  1. I have family that does traveling softball for their teen… 15k/year per kid just to participate. Then travel and lodging costs plus enough job flexibility to work remotely and/or not work. Their team is dang good but wow that’s a huge barrier for entry.
  2. Ok I have some dumb questions because it seems like this won’t actually help smaller programs. 1. Even with a 30 man roster limit what’s to stop top teams from having extra killers in the room with RTC/greyshirts, paying them, and having them compete unattached? 2. With wealthy donors already the top programs, why wouldn’t they also bankroll 30 scholarships? 20 extra scholarships at 50k each is a million bucks (the rumored price of several NIL deals), keeps studs out of other lineups, builds up the room… I don’t know, I’m certainly missing something (like a bunch of money to throw at college wrestlers lol)
  3. Requesting permission to use “shockediness” forever
  4. Will this be a competitor with the CLAW league? That one looks to be more about duels I guess, with more modified rules.
  5. Come on. Just prevent the leg lace, it's that simple. Then fart on the ref but blame it on your opponent so the ref gives you preferential treatment. I kid. But damn if refs don't get a lot of sway in freestyle.
  6. I watched maybe 30 matches and not once did I notice a portly ref. Must have been too busy watching the sport itself, go figure!
  7. Tariffs may change, but JC stays the same. Glad to have him as an anchor during these uncertain times.
  8. Yeah. This is helpful. What matters is Final X. A couple different ways to get there - US Open, WTT, previous medals. Thank you.
  9. This is probably it. Zahid doesn’t have a long name, but he does have interesting letters in his name. The Z and the V may just be the difference maker in this match!
  10. Where are my pearls?? I need something to clutch
  11. NIL is taxable income. Universities often are clueless about post-academic life.
  12. Behind the scenes. The matches are 1% of the time spent by the athletes.
  13. The name is part of the package to build hype and it's working. If you change the name it risks becoming another poorly attended barely viewed tournament like Scuffle or CKLV and then all folks complaining about the name will complain about how it should have been marketed better. National Dual Championships is dope and exciting, I don't care who hosts it but wrestling fans are going to tune in and hopefully casuals will too!
  14. "Girls that wrestle are low class clowns and I find their matches boring" Noted lol This place is weird sometimes
  15. Not NCAAs but he beat Alirez at Big 12s this year. I was at the park with my kid and just about screamed when that happened. Then my kid rode her bike for the first time without me holding her and I DID scream haha hes got all the tools. I’d love to see him up a weight.
  16. What if I’m just annoyed at having to read about this guy anytime I access wrestling media? Does that make a hater? Swear to god he takes up more oxygen than most of D1 wrestling combined with his constant attention seeking. His wrestling isn’t even that interesting. Maybe I’ll become a hater. Boooooo lol
  17. I remember a friend of my parents calling someone an Okie and then quickly clarifying to teenage me that it was not a polite thing to say. I’m sure it will lose that power over time but it’ll always have a little piece of that Dust Bowl era discrimination history with it. By itself it sounds endearing and charming. For the older generations though its laced with hatred and mistrust, like a big ‘ol FU.
  18. I'll be the buzzkill... Grew up in Stillwater and still have a community of family and friends there... I literally never heard of "Okie State" until I joined this forum. "Okie" is a loaded term, the older generation still remembers it being a derogatory term. You can use it but you handle it with respect and know your audience. It's kind of like, I can punch my little brother but you cannot punch my little brother lol "OSU" works always. "OKState" works in print (OKstate.edu is the college website and on various branding). "Oklahoma State" works always. It's not complicated. I do love the wordplay though let's be honest. Too bad Okie has other connotations
  19. Not a live match but scrapped a few minutes (maybe just one minute) with Mark Perry in junior high and he tied me in a knot real fast. I was JV quality for sure but beat everyone in the room at my weight until the high school squad showed up.
  20. Gross seems like a class act. Friendly, humble, and obviously a very skilled wrestler.
  21. Lockett is going next season, no RS
