I didn't blame him for injuries. But athlete injuries sure seemed to follow him from OSU to ISU. So maybe he's not smashing them physically but instead suggesting poor training or recovery techniques. CC was mad that Coleman got the boot, then he was staying at OSU, then he bailed to ISU once Perry was courted by ISU. They were homies. If Perry wanted the best for CC, he would've encouraged him to stay. That last sentence is speculation of course but its hard to imagine CC going to ISU without Perry also going there.

And staying motivated the whole year. It hasn’t happened yet

It sure seemed like Perry had a lot of influence. It was like a switch flipped in the OSU program, a bunch of bad things started happening all at once. Then he goes to ISU and the same things happen. Maybe he’s not the cause, but he sure seems to be there when these things are happening. anyways I’m not trying to belabor the point, he’s OSU so I want to stick up for him, but based on a bunch of years of observations I’d say if he’s in trouble he probably deserves to be in trouble.

Everyone is dogging on the NCAA but Perry should get full blame here. I hate to say it as an OSU alum but the dude has attracted trouble ever since he got into coaching. When joined OSU staff our dudes started getting hurt - a lot. Like several season ending injuries a year. And they started wrestling very defensive and conservative and the only pin move anybody used was Perry's arm bar literally for several years. It was a very boring time as an OSU fan, and concerning because obviously the athletes were not getting trained properly for wrestling or for their health. Then he gets Daton in trouble by giving his Dad illegal supplements, Daton almost got a 4 year ban from NCAA wrestling and he should have been fired for that. Then our top recruits aren't performing well and all the "OSU doesn't develop its athletes" stuff comes out. Then he balloons up and puts on like 100 pounds and nobody on staff says anything which was so weird. Then rumors fly about Perry living with his athletes, getting wasted all the time in Stillwater, and being a general nuisance. Then the coaching switch to DT, he sweet talks Christian Carroll into following him to ISU, and a few months later CC bails. Then he joins the ISU RTC, Iowa State gets a bunch of injuries that same season. Then there's reports about him contacting athletes inappropriately - this was a year ago, if we knew it on forums then he is obviously being too obvious. Now he's in trouble with the NCAA... I mean at some point you have to give the guy credit for not being a great influence

Yeah it’s a tough thing to not have an off switch. Some people are wired that way and it’s unfortunate. At my drunkest I rarely want more booze… I’m already there.

LR was probably a nicer place with a nicer staff, than Iowa City where success is demanded and the staff are old school and prickly. I'm sure there are nice mental health pros in Iowa City (they tend to be caring, touchy feely types) but it doesn't matter if he isn't willing to make big and permanent changes. Being arrested for drunkenness once a year for the past 4 years means he's been an arrestable level of drunk many more times. Sucks for the kid that he can't have a drink without the risk of having 10 more, but some people are wired that way. I have a good buddy like that, and a couple family members... You worry about them and hope they stay alcohol free but they usually don't.

To be so drunk that you don't take obvious precautions to protect yourself when sleeping off a buzz... dang man. I know going sober is easier said than done but if he doesn't, alcohol may very well kill him or lead him to kill someone accidentally.

lol all good just taking a cheap shot. I do know that stuff in a clinical setting though and if anyone’s an actual narcissist in the college wrestling it’s a guy with a car for a last name. But he’s probably not on anyone’s favorite list here…

I graduated college with honors in psychology, I think I'm good. On that note your constant drive to draw people into defensive conversations by nitpicking details like their word choice and trivial personal preferences is a classic narcissistic trait... shall we unpack the motives behind your default behavioral tendencies? lol Haha honestly I saw the "controversial clips" too and just don't have a problem with them, at least not one big enough to keep me from enjoying and appreciating the guy's wrestling. This thread is not that deep for me - favorite wrestler, least favorite team.

plus the lack of any kind of meaningful acknowledgment from PSU about them makes it look like the staff and admin don’t care which is odd for a program that sells itself as being all emotionally in tune and whatnot. Funny, when all these stories came out individually folks were like “wow that’s bad” and now a year later some of the same folks are saying “it’s nothing”. Memory not so great perhaps.

There are a zillion reasons a US military plane would go to Moscow. Heck it could be a stolen plane. Or a Russian plane painted like a US one. If RAF folks are there though, should be relatively easy prove right? Who's on the card, who's the support staff, are any of them in Russia? lmao

+1 Freestyle success doesn't translate into folkstyle success. Also the freestyle season is quite different in terms of how they prepare and compete. Freestyle results are interesting but that's about it in regards to folkstyle.

As far as icky wrestling news in the last two years, Happy Valley has the lion's share. It's pretty obvious some unscrupulous stuff is happening there. Not uncommon in sports unfortunately.

He was a stressful guy to watch wrestle, lol. Vega I mean. Oh, and Heil. I think more folks prepare for Vega this year, he'll need to keep it unpredictable.
