Dig this Reminds me of my Dad telling the story of one of his college science classes. Positive points for answers right, negative points for answers wrong. Most of the class ended up with a score below zero. It does seem a little silly and has clearly led to gaming the system for favorable seeds. "I did good last year, so this year I'll do as little as possible for a better chance at the next NCAAs" is pretty lame.

Not to argue for argument's sake but Colorado is not a left wing state. I've lived here for most of my adult life and sure some things lean left but plenty, plenty of things lean right. Anyways no need for a monologue, just surprised anyone would consider Colorado a left wing state unless "presidential voting from the last couple of elections" is literally your only metric, and even that metric isn't an overwhelming majority. But yeah OP your data has already been sold thousands of times. Literally every website you visit collects and sells your data, some places just tell you that they're doing it.

Where have I read that phrase before... hmmm haha

With all of this talk about to gap from 197-285
alex1fly replied to BruceyB's topic in College Wrestling
I put the OP in Word just to check out the word count. 1,485 words! Pretty impressive. I can't really tell what OP is mad about, or what the quoted person is mad about, but another weight or two in the 90 lb space between 197 and 285 sure makes sense to me! -
OP in 2023: "John Smith allows too much alcohol on his team." OP in 2024: "David Taylor doesn't allow enough alcohol on his team." lol

If you don’t drink at all, there’s no “should I?” moments. Fewer decisions, better sleep, fewer recovery days, more mental energy for other things. That’s a pretty clear advantage for anyone trying to outperform their peers at a high level whether it’s athletics or at your job or whatever.

They don’t know. The Brands have a contract through like 2029 right? OSU was going to hire from within but boosters stepped in and influenced the deal. Plus the timing of WTT. Iowa will want someone worthy of a dynasty, from within or without.

Waiting for Yianni's outraged tweet!

Wishing someone would be outraged so you can be outraged at their outrage has to be the most internet thing ever -
Jordan Williams didn't want to lift weights or cut weight... in high school and at OSU. Had trouble with OSU classes and with getting belligerently drunk. When things went his way on the mat he was great, when things didn't go his way you could see him give up out there. Tons of talent but there are some hurdles to his success and consistency has yet to be his thing. Sure he could outscore Carter Young at Nationals, but he could also go 0-2 or not even make weight for it.

This is a symptom of what is wrong with wrestling!
alex1fly replied to Alces Alces Gigas's topic in College Wrestling
Wrestling has come a long ways in broadcasting and watchability. But, still has a long ways to go before it's slick and seamless. Keep sharing suggestions with event producers and eventually you hope that they will listen and improve. -

I can tell a difference. Guys are out there trying to win every exchange whether its a TD or a handfight or whatever. We lost that fire for a while but I'm glad to see it back again. Lots of different techniques going on too, this year so far everybody in the lineup has surprised me at some point. It's definitely been fun to tune in.

College wrestling needs home and away singlets
alex1fly replied to KennyEBHS's topic in College Wrestling
You probably wear wrestling shoes with your ankle socks. How about that -
OSU homer but I've gotta go with Iowa. Iowa is going to show up fired up and mad. It'll be a clash for sure. I wonder if we'll see DT raise his voice; if not, maybe Gilman will. lol

College wrestling needs home and away singlets
alex1fly replied to KennyEBHS's topic in College Wrestling
I'm more in favor of wrestling teams having one singlet. Just wear the darn thing. Leave the fashion statements to frou frou sports. I do like wrestlers having their name on it. That's about as fancy as I want singlets to be. -
When are the two actually wrestling each other? I don't see CSUB on PSU's schedule. Also let's be real. AJF wants the easiest possible path to another title so he can be all vindicated and hyper-masculine on his social media. He will duck every potential challenger until the post-season which with CSUB's dual schedule is three guys. It's lame but predictable.

I’m just having fun imagining the scene. “Hey friends! Thanks for coming over. Great to see you. Mind if I pull up an impromptu interview from a combat sport coach? OH MY GOD HE’S CHEWING SOMETHING” is pretty funny in my brain whether it actually happened or it’s just OPs latest way to talk sh**. It’s a win win really

+1. I casually watched at work in real time on my pc and then watched replays at home on my phone. Brackets, click a match, and it shows up. Or search by wrestler. Not sure how much easier it could be. OP if the problem is the TV app, don’t use it. Phone and PC is super easy. You can cast to your tv too probably if you want a bigger screen.

Miraculous recovery right after the tourney due to his rigorous work ethic and Italian heritage

Don't know about the personal life stuff but his time as coach at OSU coincides with many things on the mat: more injuries, more burnout, fewer techniques, fewer AAs and champs, senior level guys not staying around the program, and starters not needing to make weight until halfway through the season. Obviously he can't be blamed for all those things but he was certainly there for them. Just seemed like he was "learning how to be a coach" while at OSU, maybe he was hamstrung by John who knows, or maybe now he'll apply those things to Iowa State. Who's calling him a fat coke sniffing cake eating idiot? I'll double leg them Lol for real though you show up to the first dual of the season and one of your guys you've been seeing matside for like 8 years has doubled in size and has a swollen face - nope it's not a bee sting because it doesn't go away. Of course people talk!
-
Yeah. Carter has been slick as ever against greener opponents but it sucks seeing him still struggle against those #15-20 guys.

Friday: attend a packed Gallagher Iba Arena for David Taylor's first home dual. Stillwater loves wrestling even in down years so the energy Friday will be absolutely insane. OSU will whomp Wyoming. Saturday: OSU football will flail and he'll scoot around the town with Jax to see what's up. Sunday: attend a packed GIA for DT's second home dual. A repeat of insane energy, a more competitive dual but OSU will still have a solid win. They'll both be like "dang this really is a wrestling crazy town, it would be pretty awesome to wrestle in front of 12,000 wrestling fans every home dual and train with the best in world" Wish I could be there this weekend!

I bounced around several jobs in my 20s so Gable's indecision is absolutely no surprise to me but he has a spotlight in on his every move so it's also no surprise to me that online ridicule follows. However the NCAA is full of it by letting him compete in college again. IMO. Olympic redshirt year where he didn't try out for Olympics, and assuming he got paid for WWE and NFL then he's also a professional athlete. That's another subject though.

Watching this video reminds me that Gable is still a kid trying to figure out what he wants to do after leaving the nest of college life.
