  1. Terry Brands was much more accomplished than Kolat; both in college and internationally. I like Kolat, don't get me wrong, but there is a lot of projection on what he would have done if he didn't get some raw deals. Sometimes you just need to make your own breaks. (and yes, he did get saw raw deals) The fact remains that Terry won two WCs and Kolat won zero and made one final, where a guy kept untying his own shoes to get a breather. Be more dominant, and you don't have to worry about shenanigans. 1999 worlds, he took two losses. One may have been a re-wrestled match, but both weren't. Did not medal. In the 2000 Olympics, he lost to Talaei (IRI) (re-wrestled match or re-scored?). The Iranian did not medal. But the US answer is probably Lee Kemp. Chris Campbell was looking pretty solid around that time, too... just not the accolades of Kemp.
  2. Everyone always says Kolat. He had one heartbreaker in the finals, but was he ever close other than that? He took some bad losses, including two to the Korean Brands beat in 96.
  3. The Ivies were still technically in the EIWA in 2021, so the EIWA got those spots. That was the rationale given at the time. Now the Ivies have formed their own qualifier, so they will get the spots based on the formula.
  4. Kid I was around when he was growing up (wrestler/football) is in his third NFL year, mostly practice squads. Making at least $250,000 for about a half year of work and should be getting a little bit of a pension. When his NFL career is over, he has a degree from a great academic institution. Not a bad way to start your post-academic career.
  5. Did they try his witch doctor? Dude fixed Gilman's fracture.
  6. Runs in the family...
  7. Interesting. I was just told by a coach/parent of a D1 prospect, tnat cross country was being limited to ten spots. This seems to make more sense, and I am very surprised how wrong he was.
  8. You are correct! Bad day for me. Too much Turkey (and other things) last week! Year 8 indeed. Time to move on...
  9. I screwed up my own edit! Meant to say "highly likely he is an omnivore." Thanks for noticing!
  10. Only seven. One more than Starocci.
  11. Where does this come from? A poster posted a sample 6000 calorie diet that was vegan. It wasn't directly attributed to Kueter. It seems like a strange choice to post as a potential diet. I would imagine approximately 100% of NFL linemen are omnivores. Also, it is highly unlikely the Iowa heavyweight is an omnivore because he isn't posting about being vegan a minimum of once a week on social media.
  12. Where is the meme?
  13. No improvement? Just last the last two years teams: Drake, Siebricht, Brands, Glazier, Hill. All showed considerable improvement. Who does improve under your ridiculously high standard? PSU? That's it? I mean, I'm an NC State fan 1st, and usually I like how they develop their guys but I have some reservations on the recent developments in Camacho, Orine, and others. Mizzou seems to have dropped off a bit in "development." Who else is there?
  14. Sealy seemed to be THE recruit after his U17 title. Expectations fell off tremendously after that. I believe he took a number off losses including to guys who will be joining him in the PSU room.
  15. I thought he had a GREAT gas tank starting with what he did to Ukraine in his U20 title run semi. He wasn't bad at U20 this year either. I agree that he didn't look good in his first NCAA match this year.
  16. Except he wasn't talking about those guys.
  17. And I was always amazed, because John allegedly did not cut a lot himself.
  18. All lineup and training related decisions fall on the coaching staff to some degree. "The adults in the room."
  19. Do you have a link?
  20. This would be a lot easier to do without it being vegan. Not making a value judgement.
  21. My ancestors did! No problem!
  22. And then won a coin flip after eating all that. Fantastic athlete. Most gifted coin flip winner I have ever seen.
