  1. Do they legally define terrorism in NY? I ask, because this killing pretty much meets the definition I used for terrorism in my grad class: Murder against a civilian to create terror in order to achieve a political or social goal.
  2. Which of his tattoos is that? (Not being argumentative; genuinely curious. I have seen explanations for a lot of his ink, but don't recall anything about a unit tattoo. I certainly respect your knowledge on this type of thing)
  3. I was not a fan of what was happening on January 6th. I just didn't think it was a good look for our country. I also don't feel it was an "insurrection" and many have painted it to be. We have more privately owned firearms in this country than any nation ever has in history. I would bet that many of the unlawfully jailed "J6 insurrectionists" have their share of firearms at home. That would mean this was the worst organization for an insurrection ever, an "insurrection" where no one remembered to bring their guns. Or actually, not really an insurrection at all.
  4. Mark Smith has entered the chat! (TBH you are generally right!)
  5. Or having to go through that silly concussion protocol only to be found to be healthy!
  6. Well, none other than Cary Kolat recently said that studs and superstars tend to donate less to programs. The borderline guys often feel the strongest affinity for their alma maters, and are generally more grateful. He's talking college donations, but I imagine that it would be true for high school, as well. I am not opposed to reading "state champ" in a post or two, but it is nearly every post, so I think it is overblown. Hey, maybe if he were only a state runner up, he wouldn't have docked Easton that point! See how silly that is?
  7. I'll remember this next time I ref an Illini match!
  8. Yes, the fact that Ithaca didn't work out for his cousin was the first clue for me.
  9. LOL my understanding is that during Penny's time in the Corps, they received about one week of grappling training. I read something to the effect of "27.5 hours" of training is received today. Please, any leathernecks or others in the know correct me if I'm in the wrong. My point is, Marines don't come out of basic training ready to compete with Gordon Ryan. Regarding your scuffle: Was your opponent threatening a train full of people in NYC? If so, you wouldn't have gone to prison.
  10. I agree with most on this board who believe the wrong call was made. I asked the wrong question last time, and I was mistaken as to the dual winner. Nazareth wins on tiebreaker criteria "a." That is ROUGH!
  11. Thank you. I have mentally gone back to that day a couple decades ago and wondered if I could still do what I did then. I honestly don't know!
  12. This is hilarious. I have been in a couple potentially life and death situations, one involving a firearm and one where I had a strong reason to believe a firearm was about to be drawn. Overall, I am happy with how I reacted in those situations including verbally removing a potential shooter to a location away from others and to where I was the only one in danger of being harmed. I talked him down and he ended up being committed to a facility. That was 25 years ago. I know how I handled it then, and am proud of it. I am no way certain how I would handle the exact situation today. You remind me of my supervisor who is 100% certain how she would handle an active shooter situation in my place of employment. 99% of us can talk a big game about such situations, but we don't know what we will do when the s____ hits the fan. Myself included.
  13. The rule was misapplied. The ref should probably not be officiating his alma mater, but his status as a state champ isn't relevant. How was he the rest of the meet? The good thing is: the misapplied headgear toss caught on film, is much easier to rectify than a set of backpoints or a takedown. Kids should probably keep their headgear on and straps up until off the mat. Prevents the ref from making a lot of bad/controversial calls. And what did EASTON do to get banged for a point? That couldn't have been a good scene either... that also cost Easton the dual.
  14. I'm not disputing this at all, but it would appear to be crazy on the surface given a) the unpredictability of 125 in recent years (which Ramos is the poster child for); and b) Ramos campaign last year. But he has been great this year, and it is certainly conceivable.
  15. Any proof that he actually uttered the phrase? Video? Again, I do not care if he is not confirmed, 1) he is a smart man and 2) clearly has some flaws. But what is the proof behind the alleged statement? Surely in the 20th century, someone caught it on camera phone?
  16. I was just contemplating Lockhart and the fact that CKLV was last weekend. Lockhart's probability altering superpowers, which allowed him to win (I believe) four straight OT coin flips at 2001 NCAA would make him a great gambling buddy in Vegas.
  17. I really don't really care he is confirmed or not. I am just saying he is an intelligent man. You disagree or you cannot comprehend a simply written post.
  18. It sure did. I have two ribs that stick out more than the others because of that injury. I am in no way as tough as Nick Feldman, but they don't heal easy. (the first one was in a victory over a D1 AA ; the second was wrestling my son in practice two years ago... I was showboating and well, stuff happens. I am officially retired.)
  19. Also used evidence from beating a hurt Griffith months later at NCAA as to why it wasn't a duck. D
  20. I looked at one before the tourney started and they were both listed as undefeated. Then they both took one loss. That is my guess at what happened.
  21. Ahhh too bad the Big 10 schedule didn't work out a PSU/ Gophers dual. But he still will be #3.
