  1. "...No matter what team or critera." and especially if it is a PSU wrestler.
  2. All three are "Basch's guys." I'm sure some tears are being shed in the Basch household, over fine wines and Traeger smoked meats.
  3. Askren voted for both... then was mad when Spencer and Gable split the award. WIN is an Iowa-centric publication...
  4. LOL But I don't think it was an actual tie. Gable won. 1st place votes were tied, so they gave it to Spencer. Not cool.
  5. Let me share a little secret: the wrestling is fun crowd is filled with "dicks." Nickal, Carter, Taylor, etc,. even Nolf. The whole crew enjoys inflicting pain and humiliation. That is their fun. And that is the case with most good wrestlers. I'm not sure why there is any confusion on their motivations.
  6. I also think Gable actually won the vote, but they were tied with first place votes, so it was split. Does this sound right. Both great wrestlers, but big mistake.
  7. Feldman< I'm not so sure about. He had a great post-season in 2024. This year, he only lost to wrestlers with equal or better accolades in the post season.
  8. Shot clock is less of a thing when technical points have been scored. I remember Beleniuk's 2021 run. Did very little in the 1st period and came out and sprinted in the second and got his last point and seemed to be trying to win 1-1 repeatedly.
  9. They are trying to get guys to get after it early, rather than game the shot clock late in a close match. If technical points are scored, this becomes less of an issue. My understanding is that it will also be tested at Pan Am.
  10. Yes. Askren complained that Spencer and Gable shared the Hodge. Meanwhile, he split his votes between the two.
  11. Two were probably Askren.
  12. Well, he doesn't have to go as far to urinate on Rocco's graves now, at least.
  13. Looks amazing. Very injury/illness prone and perhaps a bit of a front runner. I'd like to see him do well, but I think those issues would be problematic at the highest levels.
  14. That is what I figured. I remember some good Canadians being allowed to compete in the past. Chris Wilson maybe? But I was pretty sure they disallowed it.
  15. The NIL contracts aren't with the actual schools. I'm pretty sure they are year to year, too. There are some rules around them, but these probably vary based on state and institutional interpretations and legislation. I'm just not sure how something like you are suggesting would be worked out.
  16. It is a transfer portal joke that missed it's mark. He should probably stick to wrestling and leave comedy to the Carrot Tops and Bob Hopes of the world.
  17. The problem is that the courts seem to be repeatedly ruling in favor of "athletes rights." "Athletes rights" are not conducive to parity. The NCAA and most member schools preferred the old way, but there is not much that can be done at this point...
  18. My guess is that foreign nationals are no longer allowed to participate in the US Open, regardless of NCAA participation. Could someone with more current knowledge please enlighten us?
  19. So judging by track record, what % of those assertions is true?
  20. I think you're prob joking? It used to be open to foreign wrestlers, and I remember some Canadians placing. I believe it is US only now, but could certainly be wrong.
  21. They tried with Parker Keckeisen after his Brooks loss in the finals, as well. He stayed loyal to UNI, so they went with Truax.
  22. The whole point of the Hodge is for best overall season, not lifetime achievement.
