  1. Try to find any internet usage of the term before Mike Grey took what is sometimes called a "gap year" in 0'6-'07...
  2. P.S. Despite a losing record, Gholar was considered somewhat of a stud in very early MMA. Just recently Bas Rutten brought up Gholar's name on the JRE podcast. I was thinking "there's a name that I haven't heard in a bit!' Rutten and Rogan both commented on what a stud Gholar was. https://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Darrell-Gholar-213
  3. OK. Thanks for bringing this up. Great documentary on the American Gladiators. Dann Carr, who is from Erie, PA, is most certainly not related to Nate, Jimmy, Solomon, etc. However, in episode 2, as they are trying to track down Dan Carr, the crew goes to Erie Tech. They ask an administrator if he knows who Dan Carr is. The admin says something about "One of the wrestlers?" to which the documentarian replies "no." This administrator is certainly referring to the Carr family that we are all familiar with, the most prolific medal winning family in NCAA Div 1 history.
  4. Cornell alum and head coach Mike Grey disagrees with SI, USA Today, and SB Nation (whatever that is.)
  5. I believe that many of our posters are actually incorrectly spelling the term "greyshirt," especially when dealing with Cornell wrestling.
  6. I'd debug everything for the privilege of allowing me to pay by the month!
  7. Consolations at WTT and at 79kg.
  8. No question at all. The magazine was probably covering themselves from potential lawsuits.
  9. Indeed BA and MRM were reportedly working on some new techniques in recent weeks. and MRM even scored one of these leg attacks in his final. It was the same attack that VA hit on a guy who often goes by three initials (I'm afraid I am giving too much away if I type those three initials).
  10. Second transfer, right? And are you saying there is friction between Askren and Coach Messenbrink?
  11. Are you saying that a ref calling a hold PD or illegal, using the correct interpretation of the rules, to "look smart" is a bad thing? If the call is the right one, I can't see how it is bad. I like looking "smart" as an athlete, as a coach, or as a ref. As long as the ref is making the correct call, I don't see what is wrong with "smart." Perhaps an example (real world) would better explain your position?
  12. Aren't most of us being shy about "who we are?" Other than LJB and one other, I barely know who anyone is on this thread "in real life."
  13. I have that shirt somewhere!
  14. Did I post something that was untrue?
  15. Stanford has been stealing Cornell commits, too. I'm waiting to see what happens when all of the Koll guys are gone, but they look to have a good start with Shapiro.
  16. Yes. This is a message board. Message boards should only talk about what has already transpired! No "what-ifs," no "fantasy matches," no "predictions."
  17. I had the privilege of watching what I think was his last tournament (95 Worlds) in the company of a friend of his, and in close vicinity to a friend/coach/training partner of his. I was able to get some insights on the technique and the personality of one of our all-time greats.
  18. Anyone who visits this thread, and has not already done so, should go to the "wrestling stories" thread for some great Schultz stories.
  19. My granda came over exactly 100 years ago from County Cork. Was a Union man in Cleveland. I'd gladly support a Paddy Gallagher from St. Eds. Damned hard.
  20. He told the story on a recent podcast. Askren recently alluded to it, also. Someone has to know it better than me.
