  1. How about you lighten up?
  2. This is not accurate. "Mickey Mouse" predates covid as a derogatory term in sports and especially for certain sports titles.
  3. Talking about the '84 Greco guys: Both did pretty well. Blatnick defeated World Champ and 8x World/Olympic medalist Johansson of Sweden (who was actually caught doping in 84, losing the medal.) Fraser defeated Frank Andersson, a three time world champ, who may have been a year or two past his prime. Fraser also had to beat Mike Houck, who won World gold in 85, in the US trials. Wrestling was significantly diminished by the lack of Eastern Bloc nations, but the Nordic nations were very strong at the time. Both medalists beat studs.
  4. I know a guy who basically made his own, but same idea.
  5. Person to person. (Not to mention a good portion of the population has mrsa already in or on their bodies. When I was recovering from mrsa on my knee and my jawline, I was made to put a swap with an antibiotic ointment inside each nostril, because something like 33% of humans have staph inside their nose.)
  6. 15% of Israelis have Russian/Soviet origins. I don't think Kalishkanov is that uncommon a surname in the former Soviet nations. It basically means "maker of fancy bread, " if I am not mistaken. I was thinking less about a Russian general and more about an arms designer, but not surprised to see a Soviet-type name on an Israeli roster.
  7. I resemble that meme, sir!
  8. Keep me away from UV rays!
  9. https://kennedyindustries.com/the-sole-mat-complete-kit/
  10. It is pretty mainstream.
  11. Why is the 86 Kg guy's name a surprise?
  12. That worked out so well with Gibson.
  13. I can see that from a wrestling perspective. Academically not so much, but it has been done before. (This is not to insult Nebraska, very few schools compare to Northwestern, academically)
  14. 2022 was kind of a done deal with Iowa injuries, but I'm not sure healthy Iowa beats PSU in a tournament with those two in the lineup. Also talking duals, which do have some degree of importance.
  15. Dean and Kerkvliet weren't devastating enough?
  16. Northwestern probably has one of the worst starting athlete/big recruit retention rates for a wrestling program from a major conference. I have no idea why. Just an observation.
  17. The NCAA mats can't be blamed for Jon Jon Millner's staph, which reportedly is also very serious. I believe he has had one surgery, and may still get some in the future. Maybe it has become more of an issue this year? Remember Teske missed a good amount of time. I have had staph several times and MRSA at least once. The MRSA could have been bad, but I caught it right away. On day 1, I am sure I was contagious, but I'm fairly certain I would have passed a skin check. Day 2 I was in the emergency room.
  18. How many skin infections are from mats? How many are from human to human contact?
  19. When was the last time you bet against a Nittany Lion?
  20. D3 (obviously different quality of wrestling than D1, but still governed by the same rules) had a guy wbf in pig tail, then won next match by fall, then lose in round of 16 by fall. Scored 4 more pins to take third. NCAA record 6 total pins. He may have outscored almost all the champs?
  21. Why reduce forfeit points? A forfeit should be equal to a pin. Only makes sense.
  22. My Greco coach used to say something along the lines that he never saw a good wrestler get burned out from wrestling, because wrestling is fun. He said that he saw plenty of good wrestlers burnout from weight cutting.
