  1. As someone that grew up 2.5 miles from Whiskey Point, I am willing to defend the site.
  2. You forgot to mention what a PSU homer you are but...
  3. Clearly DITKA
  4. Nothing happened to her. In this day and age if you do something like she did on film you are going to be a meme. If you react right it goes away. Is she really so damaged that she can't go to a wrestling match/tournament? I mean I saw it and thought it was funny do no big deal in the grand scheme of things. If the Lee's want to portray her as some great victim, it will only grow the incident. To try to tie that to Spencer having to leave America to save his family is lame. It is just such a nothing story. Just my opinion but I have also been told I am absolutely heartless and have no feelings.
  5. I personally think it would be a bad move for him to "move away" from America and USA Wrestling. The mother angle is also pretty weak.
  6. The only argument I could see is he could have sat his true Freshman year and started the next year "healthy." You could argue that he would have wrestled at PSU his true freshman year as well and while that is true, I think he had to at Iowa. So much hyperbole and there is no way to know. He had a great NCAA career and like so many didn't get the 4.
  7. Can France qualify the weight? I don't believe they did in 2020 and if Lee is too injured to wrestle that might not be an option either.
  8. See I think dynasties in general are good for sports. It gets viewers to tune in to see if Tiger can do it again and it also gets the people to tune in that want to see him lose just as much. It was like watching Spencer Lee this year, half wanted him to be a four timer and half wanted someone to get him. Wrestling will always be a niche sport but I think this can activate the fans the most.
  9. I hate anything that makes reffing more subjective. I know the whole stalling thing is that way. Reversals are in a weird spot. I think it is harder to score a reversal than an escape and takedown but you are better off with an escape then a takedown. I would like to see the Warner ride addressed. I series of 15 second rides with push outs should not be awarded with a point, but then you are back to is it a push out or the bottom guy running out. Either way too many restarts. I would like to see mat wrestling remain but I am not sure how you can have it and have it regulated correctly.
  10. It is funny because around Penn State NIL is becoming a pretty big controversy. It was cited as the reason that Micah Shrewsberry left for Notre Dame. James Franklin has said that Penn State is years behind tOSU and Michigan as well as others in this category. What does this mean for wrestling, I don't know but I do know it is a pretty hot topic around Penn State supporting sports other than football.
  11. Lee was a very dominant 125 lber. I personally don't know how you rank guys versus others. Many Penn State Fans don't even have Ruth in their top 5. They rank Taylor over him. We will always see greats come and go. The idea that there will never be someone as dominant as Spencer Lee just doesn't hold water. He is in a group that is as good as you can imagine with a lot of other guys.
  12. Ed Ruth as 7. Boy are you tough. 3-timer with a 3rd place finish. 3 career losses. 76% bonus rate for 46 career pins. What a ham and egger.
  13. This would be a place that the freestyle rule would be helpful.
  14. I didn't think I was going to make it back to State College Monday night coming back from Coudersport. Super dicey. Only car on the road. no tire tracks until I got behind the plow at Quehanna.
  15. Concussions are a difficult thing. You have athletes trying to game the system to trick the evaluator and you have some that are super honest. The super honest ones are tough to ever get cleared but one of the things is to be 100% symptom free. We had a kid when I coached Ice Hockey that would have been the all-time leading scorer but his senior year he got a concussion and wouldn't clear week after week. At the end of the season he had missed about 20 of our 35 games. It happened to Sidney Crosby as well. I would rather that they error in favor of the athletes health than the athletes athletic goals. With the way the Dolphins screwed up with Tua this year it is only going to get worse and worse.
  16. This whole thing is crazy. I thought the whole Steveson victory lap last year was weird. It wasn't this longtime great capping off a tremendous career. This was a college kid saying I am not coming back and taking the money. All that is fine but it certainly doesn't need to celebrated. As to Lee, I was at the dual and it never even occurred to me to give a standing ovation. He is a super senior finishing his college wrestling career in a few months. Should Penn State have provided a gift like cities did during the Kareem retirement tour?
  17. It is hard. The bigger the match the tighter the wrestling. Even great offensive wrestlers tighten up. Watch Taylor v Dake. Taylor did not wrestle like Taylor in those matches. I was at the dual and it was exciting in person because you know any takedown could be mean the match, so you have the anticipation. I wish every wrestler was Jason Nolf but very few are so we get tough, physical hand fighting.
  18. I just hope that everyone who should wrestle does wrestle. It is what is good for wrestling. I really want to see SVN v Murin and Facundo v Kennedy. While they won't likely be high scoring I think they will be tough matches.
  19. For me is this match-up would happen it would be for a one-day fan appreciation moment. It would say nothing about either wrestler's legacy. This would be for the fans. It wouldn't be for the team or the individual. It would be fun, but it isn't happening in today's NCAA where it is hard enough to get two great guys at the same weight to even face off against each other.
  20. It is always hard to know who doesn't mind getting punched in the face.
