  1. This tells me they are at least considering Kharchla at 174 then, yeah?
  2. It is a good gauge for both him and Munoz and establishes some form of pecking order early. Last year the two 184lbers who came up ran roughshed - with ease - on all of 197lbs. Buchanan established that Munoz will not do the same.
  3. Having one good tournament and a 60% win percentage with many losses to non-AA then taking a year off can and does - as seen by his squeeker of a 2-1 gift...err... win last night. Also you must not follow much, at all. Almost every media outlet is picking him to high AA regardless of 174 or 184. Predictions =/= rankings =/= ratings. He is rated at #10 on wrestlestat using an unbiased algorithm. That seems about right and still doesn't take in to account the uncertainty of his long layoff (did not look good last night) or the uncertainty of his postseason weight.
  4. I laid out the reasons for his being overrated already. It is based off of his entire career and not one tournament. He wasn't near a wrestling mat for much of it. Not unless he took it climbing with him.
  5. You are correct in that it isn't a hot take. You are incorrect in the usage of the word accusation as well as the following statement of based on nothing. He deduced, based off the rest of his career aside for one tournament, that he is overrated. It isn't a hot take because it is true and widely believed. Prior to NCAAs he was 10W-6L (62.5% WP) and seeded 11th (not to place). He beat four guys who had better seasons than him to place 5th. He then took a year off - much of it not training because he thought his competitive career was done. It is a fair deduction for him to say he is overrated. It isn't a hot take, though.
  6. Arnold mentioned him in his interview when talking about him, Brands, and PK. If he wasn't in the conversation, I imagine he wouldn't have been brought up in the conversation of who is competing for the spot by one of the guys competing for the spot.
  7. In between U23s and NCAAs he dominated his way through the U23 trials. I posted this response in the Wrestleoff Thread to that.
  8. You also forgot about Small Focus.
  9. I am happy to be wrong, if so. I enjoyed his movement and if he can keep that, while improving his skillset and power he could be a sleeper.
  10. I 110% respect the way he handled the 'why didn't you leave your shoes on the mat' question. The response of "I'm not done with wrestling, so why would I do that?" sort of answer is lovely. He said he understood what some of it meant and why some folks would want to see that, but he isn't done, he is just done wrestling as a competitor. He even mentioned Zahid specifically and said that now he gets to work with him to get him to the same level and help him earn those experiences and accolades. It was a great response.
  11. Tabor might be 265, but he isn't 265lbs of functioning muscle, when he was 220lbs last year. Nobody puts on 40lbs of functionable muscle in 6 months. Edit: I agree on chance of getting hurt. I still believe Nelson is a better option because he is a much better wrestler. There was nothing that Tabor did last year that could make me think otherwise.
  12. I hope he does, too... but not getting Nelson in to the lineup when he was the recruit he was is going to be a tough bullet to bite. So you're saying even if he cannot earn the spot at 197, he is okay holding 197lbs all year when he could potentially beat the guy the next weight up and get experience?
  13. Damnit, DT. Shoes stayed on.
  14. Some of us have another American to watch... c'mon man.
  15. Oh no. He's back on the mat.
  16. He looked like he thought real hard about it... ... and did not take them off.
  17. Do we see him take his shoes off?
  18. It was a garbage-time takedown, to be clear, but still two points.
  19. Last second TD for DT - wins 6-2. BOOM
  20. I hope he lays it on and separates here. Back to dancing around, though.
  21. BOOM another one. Up 4-2.
  22. TAKEDOWN David Taylor. Put together several shots in a row and finally got one to convert.
  23. DT is going to go on the clock early unless he scores in the first minute.
  24. 2-0 for Ghasempour at the break. He is controlling center. DT has shot once, and he had zero penetration. Ghasempour shot once and converted.
  25. Yeah, he got called for action twice pretty quick after DT was called for it first.
