General information: Entry Fee: $20 paid to VakAttack via Venmo At the time of this posting, there are 13 registered (paid) participants. Still two spots open to complete the field of fifteen. Contact VakAttack immediately if you are interested in registering. Draft: Thursday, March 9, 2023 @ 9:30pm EST Link to Draft Board Once everyone is logged into the draft, I’ll randomly sort the participant list to determine draft order. Draft picks will be made in this thread, facilitated by VakAttack (i.e., he’ll prompt you to pick if you’re running slow.) I will log the pick on the Draft Board as it is made. Time to make your selection will be loosely policed at 2min. The selection process will take place in a reversing-snake pattern. i.e., the selection order works as follows: Round 1: 1 through 15 Round 2: 15 through 1 Note: #1 and #15 will make two consecutive picks as the order reverses itself round-to-round Each participant selects a wrestler for each weight class (125-285), plus one ‘Wild Card’. The ‘Wild Card’ can be selected any time during the draft process. The penalty for excessive lateness during a selection will result in the pick being skipped for that round, and that pick moved to the end of draft. (VakAttack’s discretion) All eleven selections (125-285, plus WC) count toward the participants summary score. Scoring will be downloaded from TrackWrestling (data provided using My Wrestlers) at the end of each round and updated/published on the same Google Sheet used for the Draft. Suggestions: Highly recommend that you open two browser windows. One to monitor this selection thread and make picks; the other to monitor the draft board (follow the selection order & see who is still available on the Draft Board). NOTE: You will need to refresh the thread frequently to keep up with selections being made and avoid missing your turn due to a time penalty. The Draft Board will update in real time. If you have any questions, reach out to VakAttack or lu_alum

I'll run a random sort when we join at 9:30p. Just posted the thread where we'll conduct the draft, which includes general guidelines and instructions. https://intermatforums.com/topic/1390-2023-ncaa-tournament-fantasy-competition/?do=getNewComment

Here's my take on the top four at 184: Brooks’ seed at 184 is perfectly reasonable. Let’s begin with the understanding that only the current season’s resume (documented on an ISRF) counts toward seeding (being a two-time champ doesn’t matter, with the exception of how it may influence coaches when they complete their ranking sheets). Four one-loss conference champs in the bracket. Brooks is behind #1 Keckeisen* because Keckeisen beat a common opponent (#5 Coleman) twice, while Brooks lost to the #5. Hidlay, whose only loss is to the #1 (with whom he split two bouts), is probably ahead of Brooks at the #2 due to more bouts & Brooks’ lack of RPI. #4 Munoz’ loss is a one-pointer to #13 (Pinto, Nebraska). Even without a computer, using seven weighted criteria, the top four make perfect sense & would probably have been seeded the same if the old-school seeding meeting method was honestly applied.

Message to Dean: To avoid being seeded #9, don’t lose to the #4, #5, and #8 seeds. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

different subject... you think you'll make the draft tomorrow night? still two spots left.

I’m guessing they didn’t change the language of this part after they went to seeding all 33 individuals in the bracket. The 32/33 winner naturally hits the #1 when seeding the entire field. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Draft board is now loaded with the 330 wrestlers in the field. I currently show 12 paid participants. Waiting of @flyingcement's entry fee to be confirmed by @VakAttack Link to file: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1eze6IbcFHbIbVy3x6PkCYowK3kdUYBuhVvo2ZncA4ek/edit?usp=sharing If we limit the contest to 15 people, there are two spots left.

I'm lucky... in that my wife knew when we met that I made the trip to NCAAs (as well as either Scuffle or Midlands) every year. I've attended each national tourney from 2003-2019 - except 2009, when my daughter was born. And 2009 has its own story. The first day of the tourney (March 19, 2009) happened to be the due date for our first child. Like many folks, I had bought tickets for that tourney nearly a year in advance. Wifey & I are at a pre-natal visit in early March and OB says, "Everything's looking really good here... I think we can induce on March 12th." My quick response was, "Oh great! That means I can do to..." I'll never forgot the immediate glare I got from my wife that stopped me mid-sentence. She didn't realize that I had already sold my tickets a couple months prior. I still joke about it from time to time, but she doesn't find the humor in it.
