  1. If the Iowa staff doesn’t actually let him on the team, then I don’t think they look too bad. They were trying to give him a chance and he blew it. But if this video is from when it was posted, I imagine the AD may not be happy that he is using campus facilities (thanks to the RTC) - https://www.instagram.com/reel/C12PTlQrHIW/
  2. They could have done it intentionally knowing what his actual race is. I would doubt it was more than 1 person saying it though.
  3. I thought they did a decent job. I mean the first question they asked was about the criminal charges, it doesn’t really get much more hardball than that.
  4. My guess is maybe slurs that Hispanic people are called? I mean other wrestlers have said Iowa fans called them racist names, that part is actually believable IMO. But him saying Glazier started the altercation and basically that he wasn’t really sorry for what he did was pretty cringe.
  5. What makes you say that?
  6. To be fair, even if Fix weighed in at 130 that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s going 125
  7. Also on Stalemates podcast it was reported that Fix weighed in at 130 against NC State
  8. Meh, if this was a high school forum I’d agree with you, but these guys really aren’t “kids.” Was it not okay to talk about Fernandes either or where does the line start?
  9. He’s also right. Door is closed on this semester. Tom wants him to Olympic shirt and then try again in the fall. It would take a lot of work I don’t think AJ is capable of. If the AD is the one that said no, why would waiting change her mind?
  10. So no medical, but last year was a regular redshirt?
  11. You may be right about the medical, but sounds like he qualifies for Olympic based on cadet world bronze
  12. I’d give F&M a semi-decent shot. They actually have 3 guys ranked currently via Intermat which I thought was pretty impressive (although in the lower half, highest being James Conway #17 at 184.
  13. Yeah, as is Mike “the Situation” who is also NOT from NJ
  14. He should have 3 years left including this one, but I believe he’d have to apply for a medical shirt for 2022 first (2021 didn’t count, last year while he was out counts as a year). Sounds like he is eligible for an ORS this year, but I know I read/heard somewhere he wanted to wrestle this year, so your second question would be my main one. I assume he had gone through the enrollment process with Iowa, but while I’m no admissions person so could be wrong, I can’t imagine he can still enroll for the spring semester at a D1 school at this point…
  15. Kinda sad if the dad is the one saying he wants them all to stick together. Feel bad for Angelo, maybe even Anthony too if he hasn’t really transgressed since being in Iowa.
  16. Hmm, interesting, thank you
  17. I’m still confused about the RTC system… NLWC has its own locker room in the PSU facility? Is there any other sport where non students have personal access to on-campus facilities? (And I know it’s not just PSU where this happens)
  18. IIRC DeSanto’s wrestling wasn’t really dirty at Iowa. Most of his “incidents” were after the match. Before I knew who Fernandes was I probably would’ve said Thomas Penola of Purdue who seemed to have a thing for headbutts and IIRC gave Hillger a concussion. But looks like he got injured last year and hasn’t been back, I assume graduated and moved on. From this weekend’s matches I might nominate Richie Koehler of Rider. He was throwing some haymakers against Shawver. He even did the shake your hand apology thing after he was penalized for one but then did it again right after.
  19. I think Schwab was complaining that they didn’t call blood time. Believe it was either in Happel/Hardy or Downey/Robb
  20. Just watched Nebraska/Wyoming with the Brain commentating. During the Smith/Volk match he said “there are rumors swirling that Fix and/or Vito could be dropping”
  21. Volk had actually already beaten Smith at CKLV
  22. It was because when the 2020-2021 season started there was question as to whether or not it would actually finish.
  23. I mean a lot of these 6 or 7 year guys are getting graduate degrees aren’t they, do we know if that’s the case for Fix? We know it’s not the case for Vito due to the Ivy rules…
  24. The concussion was evident in the Chumbley match, which appears to be when it was sustained, or maybe the end of the Cardenas match. But earlier in the Cardenas match was the potential gas tank issues. Possible that was from a concussion I guess too though.
