  1. Good writeup, but kinda disagree with your conclusions here. 125 is a mess because everybody has been taking losses. Davis has not yet, although he really only has one win over a top 10ish guy in Kaylor. Beating DeAugustino would give him another one and IMO put him squarely in the national title conversation, which he may have somewhat been already due to the parity but I think many are hesitant to do yet. On the flip side, both Nagao and Ragusin are proven commodities, no result would really surprise me. Ragusin has plenty of big wins in his career, just hasn’t been able to put it all together to AA yet.
  2. What was Escobedo yelling about at the end of Kazak/Rooks?
  3. Mostly just intermat I think. Flo had both Davis and Kasak in the rankings. I guess Kasak there may be a tiny bit of question still, but with Davis once he went against Hofstra it was pretty obvious.
  4. I think it still makes sense to choose down unless you're bad on bottom or the other guy is good on top. End of 1 you're up 3-1. You choose neutral and no scoring, 3-1. Other guy escapes, takes you down, you escape, lose 5-4. Should've chose bottom.
  5. Dumb. We know he’s most likely the starter
  6. How was Kasak not ranked by intermat? He beat #15 Singleton over a week ago. Looks like Flo had him at 17 btw
  7. Doubt it. His only good win is Terukina, and he has already lost to another team's backup this season whose starter isn't on the list, as well as another guy not on the list who has 6 losses.
  8. How did Diakomihalis make the list?
  9. Then I guess they can skirt the official definition of duck as defined by themat forums circa 2020
  10. I recall a couple matches so far this year where a guy is down by 1 or tied with choice going into the third, but the other guy has around 45-50 seconds of riding time. If it was the second period and before the other guy was able to get that RT, maybe he chooses down, but now he chooses neutral. Of course the 3 point TD also impacts this decision. On a related note, I feel like more guys don’t defer in the second than I would expect. I pretty much always deferred unless it was 0-0.
  11. This would actually make it easier for casual fans to know who has choice in the second. Just maybe not the third
  12. The most interesting race is definitely the race for 2nd though. Crazy that 9 teams are within 16 expected points
  13. PSU lost their chance at the record when Van Ness got hurt. But I still think they had a good shot with him. They would have needed Mesenbrink to place top 4 or so, who is currently only ranked 10th. Truax could very well win but is currently only ranked 5th. Kasak does not appear to be in the Intermat rankings but just beat #15. Davis should score some points but you never know with 125.
  14. I would think cutting the weight would help him get in wrestling shape…
  15. AA’s - Eddie Ventresca, Killian Cardinale, Jake Woodley Champs/finalists - Cody Brewer, Ronnie Perry
  16. Turley looked good with the 15-0 tech of Washington
  17. Do you think I inaccurately summarized your position - “riding just to ride isn’t stalling”?
  18. Even someone that’s not in wrestling shape shouldn’t be gassed from the get go. That’s why it’s possible Allred losing effected his energy as well, not that that’s a good excuse of course.
  19. Yes but he didn’t look that great in the beginning of the match either
  20. Eh, Allred was the main disappointment. None of the guys that lost from 125-174 were really expected to win. But if Allred wins that match like he was expected to, maybe we see a different Hutmacher? Not sure what to make of that performance…maybe he was overhyped, maybe he lost his adrenaline when he knew the dual was decided, maybe a little of both.
  21. Yeah, his whole argument is basically that riding just to ride isn’t stalling…which kinda by definition is not action…
