Army releases name of third helicopter pilot. A female, but based on her accomplishments not unqualified. Of course many on social media jumping on the fact that she might have been a lesbian, as if that matters https://www.army.mil/article/282772

I think it will be Plott also, but I wouldn’t call the Minnesota dual a gimme for them. Wrestlestat has it 18-12 but I think a couple Iowa guys could be on upset watch. Of course wrestlestat has them losing to OSU 17-15 due to bonus, and I agree with who they’re projecting to win and I feel like almost all weights have a fairly heavy favorite. So winning 184 would likely give Iowa the dual. I also think Tom cares more about beating them.

I mean I’m not going to do silly hypotheticals of guys from different eras but let’s look at the credentials of the ‘85-‘86 team compared to PSU this year: Looks like they didn’t AA at the lightest weight, favor Lilledahl 3-0 PSU Penrith: Champ that year, 2nd the next 2 years. Favor him over Davis 3-3 Randall: 2nd that year, 5th and 2nd in prior 2 years. Favor him over Bartlett 6-3 Iowa Dresser: Champ that year, 4th the year before. Toss up with Van Ness Heffernan: Champ that year, 2nd the year before and after. Favor him over Van Ness 9-3 Alger: took 5th that season then won it the next 2 years. Favor Mesenbrink 9-6 Kistler: champ that year and the year before, 2nd the year before that. Tossup with Haines Chiapparelli: took 4th that season, 5th the year before, won it the next year. Favor Starocci 9-9 Goldman: champ that year, 2nd the previous years. Favor him over Barr 12-9 Iowa did not AA at heavyweight, favor Kerk 12-12. So I’ve got 12-12 with 2 tossups. Bottom line I wouldn’t say the most likely final result won’t put this year’s PSU team too far ahead of any of the top Iowa teams.

Based on the audio, the air traffic controller did nothing wrong. Seems like the blame is on the helicopter.

This is a troll account and not actually his uncle right?
-
Also saw a PSU fan on x claiming it was also because Arnold was saying things back…

Wait do you actually want Angelo at OSU?

One argument in favor of Iowa is that they won 9 straight titles from 1979-1986, and 6 straight from 1995-2000 (last 3 by Zalesky). PSU’s most consecutive is 4, which they did twice with only the tOSU title in there for the 8 titles in 9 years. But in addition to the 9 straight, Iowa also had 9 titles in 10 years from 1991-2000. http://fs.ncaa.org.s3.amazonaws.com/Docs/stats/wrestling_champs_records/D1.pdf Looking at the above link, if we’re using the stretch I first listed, their most points was in 1986, where they had 5 champs, a 2nd, a 4th and a 5th. I’m not getting into comparing individual guys, but those places would certainly stack up with PSU’s expected places especially if we’re talking in a dual.

Was before my time but looking at Iowa’s historic results they seem comparable and probably even better at least during a few stretches so for that reason I wouldn’t say PSU’s dominance is “the death of college wrestling.” For example in the 80’s they had a streak of 7 years with at least 8 AA’s, including 6 straight years of having 5+ finalists: ‘79-‘80: 8 AA’s (1-1-2-3-3-4-7-8) ’80-‘81: 9 AA’s (1-1-2-2-2-5-7-7-7) ’81-‘82: 8 AA’s (1-1-1-2-2-3-6-7) ’82-‘83: 9 AA’s (1-1-1-1-2-3-4-5-5) ’83-‘84: 8 AA’s (1-2-2-2-2-4-5-6) ’84-‘85: 9 AA’s (1-1-2-2-2-4-5-5-5) ’85-‘86: 8 AA’s (1-1-1-1-1-2-4-5) https://hawkeyesports.com/news/2004/06/16/all-americans

I agree with @PortaJohn, there are a lot of knowledgeable posters there but also many not so knowledgeable ones. As a fan of neither Iowa or PSU I much prefer reading HR or whatever they’re calling these days vs BWI or whatever they’re calling it these days. Pretty much every thread on the PSU board is just “trust in Cael!”
-
No it will still count either way. Cael was only allowed to wrestle in open tournaments, this happened in a dual.
-
Still speculation of course, but thought this was good insight without any politics

I don’t see 8 finalists happening. Mesenbrink & Starocci damn near 100% chance but gets a little dicey after that. I’d go something like: Kerk 65% Haines 60% Kasak 55% Van Ness 50% Barr 35% Bartlett 30% Lilledahl 25% Davis 15% I wouldn’t be super surprised to see 5 champs but I’d be very surprised to see 8 in the finals. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see 9 in the semis though and we know PSU usually does well in the semis…

Meh, I think Ferrari would need 120+ wins and to beat some studs to get in the conversation. This all very premature of course considering he has 0 titles.
-
Another interesting tidbit, multiple posters claiming that the reason Arnold left the bench before 184 is because there was heckling from PSU fans. One poster said it included “vulgar” remarks and that some fans were kicked out
-
Yes and that their guys “never get tired”
-
I think he thought Ferrari had a better chance of beating Starocci

Hawkeye report in panic mode Multiple comments in match thread accusing PSU of “strength training,” which for some apparently even includes something illegal to help their conditioning Comments from people wanting to move on from the Brands bros, but that doesn’t seem super uncommon on there People (rightfully) afraid that OSU will pass Iowa One guy in literally the same post that he listed one of Cael’s accomplishments being an Olympic Gold medal, said he was a “nobody on the world stage” (to be fair other posters are saying that post was dumb) Thread: “how much will it cost to keep Ferrari,” includes comments that Kueter is getting $500k and was allegedly offered $800k to quit football completely and declined
