  1. At the risk of being unkind, the announcers on ESPN+ for college wrestling are uneven in quality. Regularly turn the sound down or off.
  2. Cardenas majors Stoudt 8-0 -Stoudt did not have a good strategy in this match
  3. Dugan wins a tight one - is Loew healthy? A bit of a snooze match
  4. Watched the Warner match last night. He has been a tough competitor and accomplished quite a lot. A few times now it seems like his heart is not in it. I sure he wants to help his team, but we can all understand when the grind gets to a wrestler's mental and they have had enough. I am not blaming him just noting my read of his demeanor and performance.
  5. He is very good and that was bad luck. I expect he is going to accomplish at the highest NCAA levels. I was thinking during that match that he might be a little better at a lower weight class, but there is Max Dean whupping butts up a weight.
  6. I am not stating my preferences as to crunchy or creamy on a public forum, however I think the greater challenge can be in finding good taste without a lot of extra sugar and separation of oil, and a good texture etc I have to tip the cap to Wegmans organic - both crunchy and creamy (but not saying which is my favorite) as they execute very well. Most of my dogs like it too! Of course, I am probably in no posiiton to lecture Mr. P B on such things and everyone has their favorites.
  7. you self-identify as one of my favorite food staples - so I give you the benefit right off the bat
  8. hurtful
  9. RBY was asked about his vulnerability to Jesse Mendez and he said "Jesse who?"
  10. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Jimmy left themat.com forum and it collapsed and burned in short time. I ban and condemn wagers with forum departure coercion.
  11. I remember when Trenge put it out there that he intended to win NCAA's 4x. There was some backlash re: a lack of respect/humility. But first you must dream it before you are likely to achieve it. Trenge had some bad luck and never won it - but he was a real contender every year and is one of three correct answers of the best Lehigh upper weights never to win NCAA's. The two others (so far)?
  12. I think Cornell will win the tournament and after that all the guys that qualify at Easterns will wrestle at NCAA's. They could medal and mayby if they kept max Dean ????
  13. Jimm C has some very good analysis and I think your replies are mostly interesting and inciteful. I think Bartlett and Facundo will have more motion and attacks at NCAA's. I love the upside of Haines and he has a real shot at AA - but not yet there on a finalist or even the semis. Hope I am wrong! Not jumping on the Starocci skeptic train - all he does is win, win, win no matter what. Also think Kerk wins 285 and Dean is top 3 and as good a chance as any for 1st.
  14. This is pretty good but to me seems aspirational. They are probably at greater risk of getting bumped to 3rd with a few falling short than a serius challenge for team 1st. They found a way to keep the dual kind of close, bu don't think that will work as well at NCAAs. Skeptical of Woods and Murin going 2/3, but maybe. I think there is parity at 141 and Woods will have some close matches by the quarters. So 2nd not a bad guess. Murin is as likely to get 7 or 8 as #3. Just not there that he is top 3 at one of the toughest/deepest weights. Depth at 141 and 149 is like night and day.
  15. I am ok with trying it in OT only, as it is slightly better way to determing the match than relative riding time.
  16. I like this idea and the idea of 2 min first period with short breaks (maybe :30) between periods. It might increase action. Maybe for OT only, adopt a push out rule. Too much tactical hard collar ties, clubbing, and control ties to slow matches.
  17. Once this news makes its way onto the Lehigh Wrestling facebook page, might need some wellness checks at the many senior housing facilities populated by the LU fan base. 0-3 against Ivy teams and could be at risk for 0-4 with an upcoming match v. Princeton. Yikes! But they have a good tournament squad and should have Beard and a few others ready for success at EIWA's and NCAA's. Hold on old timers, all is not lost!
  18. You have to give Brands some credit for this as he is probably one of the few that could get away with slowing down the match so effectively - ususally Starocci can get a wrestler out of position with his own motion, level changes, body fakes, etc. Brands boredom was effective to a point and he may be one of the few that could effectively deploy this strategy.
  19. hurtful - but funny
  20. no - MURIN WRESTLED DEFENSIVELY ALMOST WHOLE MATCH (HE IS GOOD AT THIS) 80/20 No - you are on Hawkeye fantasy island
  21. True - but I mostly blamed Iowa (at least 75-25) for the boredom.
  22. pretty sure he did not have Lee match in mind with this interesting suggestion!
  23. Always glad to see non-Cornell Ivy teams have some success. Watched Brown and hope/expect Coach Leen can get in the mix with rising Harvard and Columbia programs. Hoping each of these schools can get wrestlers qualfied for NCAA's and win some matches at that level. Pretty sure Princeton will, despite its dual meet struggles. Princeton looks like they have strong recruiting and will bounce back from some suprising dual meet losses.
  24. Good analysis! I was thinking Bartlett had a strategy, but it was a very poor strategy. He wrestled in in Woods's tie ups and let him dictate the pace. Was not active or ready off the whistle and mostly reactive during the match. The late great Dave Schultz gave a clinic and said in big matches he liked to focus on making sure he was wrestling in his tie ups and dictating the pace that he wanted. Bartlett completely missed on that approach - but he has the video of the match and he can learn! I think there will be a lot of adjustments we will see at B1G and NCAA's if/when more PSU v. Iowa matches occur. If Bartlett gets Woods again, he needs a new strategery!
