  1. This guy Chael is about as sharp as a bowling ball.
  2. Nick Lee = 2x Champ and 5x All-American. Is he still carrying water and chopping wood? Nick belongs on the list too.
  3. Glory Vito Cornell(a) Yianni Artalona Monday Foca Brooks Cardenas Slavikouski Without Brooks, looks like the First Team Ivy lineup! NCAA conspiracy at 184 to avoid Ivy sweep of NCAA's?
  4. RBY said about the same thing before so Wrestle-Gods might appreciate his candor!
  5. Jimmy C at his best during March wrestle-madness!
  6. hurtful - guys can develop in a room like that and a year or two of maturity and weight training can be impactful
  7. Anyone who understands the sport will acknowledge that prior NCAA titles is a highly relevant fact as to tournment performance in later years. The only current season assumptions may be in the formula, but it is a deeply flawed assumption.
  8. One of the flaws in th seeding system is insufficient love for returning champs and even returning finalists - nuttery that this is not any consideration.
  9. Not sure of Brooks really cares about his draw, but probably would have taken a few more matches if he knew. Hilday and then PK is not easy, but I think he handles it.
  10. Kerk is Dean and Sasso
  11. I think it would. Beating Fix and then RBY would be something.
  12. Glory could have struggles with weight management and injury recovery - any word from Princeton? Do not think Yianni or Vito are too worried, but the Penn #2 seeds are capable and will have a strategy on home mats. Beard might be the least worried #1 seed. O'Malley has a really tough path at EIWA's w this seeding. Conigliaro in quarters, Foca in the semis, and if he makes the finals could be Incontrera or Pasiuk. All of these guys have a shot at round of 12 and would expect at least a few AA's. A lot of parity at 141 and expect it to be a wild bracket. Hines is dangerous - suprising the number of losses he has. Have not seen Griess at 285, but 30 wins is impressive. I wonder if Goldin has a shot at the #3 seed at 285 and wonder if he even wants it? 165 - #2 seed may be right, but I am not betting against Monday.
  13. I think if they wrestled 5, it would be 3-2. Like Sasso v Yianni, would love to see it but probably will not.
  14. Intermat has elevated me to a state qualifier - my crowing achievement! I did not get close to that back in the day!
  15. I won a jv tournament my first year (!), but downhill after that. If I was smarter I probably would have left the shoes on the mat a little earlier - but was fun to watch some very talented wrestlers and interesting personalities on my teams.
  16. In an imagined world where I am chasing my third NCAA title as a Junior, I might strain to stay within the boundaries of humility in the heat of battle.
  17. important point - I have decided to launch a full investigation. will report back when completed
  18. Glory gassed bad at the end of his match with Miller of Penn - even in the 2nd period. Miller road him harm for the 3rd. This was before his apparent injury v. Lehigh.
  19. Yes - that is some bullshit and remarkably frequent. Have these guys never been on bottom when someone has a leg hooked or two boots in?
  20. This is a good idea! Maybe make it so it only breaks the tie after the first OT period - that would make the 2 min OT period more productive and exciting. I wonder if NCAA rules committee is reading this board for all of its good ideas?
  21. What if there were no hypotheticals?
  22. Hypothetically: Harvard would be crushed and drop the sport as a varsity team. This would trigger a loss of Ivy league status to the sport (Dartmouth, Yale, and Harvard all out), and soon all Ivies would demote to club status. Without Ivies, EIWA would crumble. Army, Navy, Lehigh and Patriot league teams (like Lafayette from long ago) would move to club status. Despite NWCA's best efforts, after EIWA crumbles, other conferences call its quits and NCAA drops the NCAA championship in wrestling. All NCAA teams go to club. High school wrestling withers and dies and the sport becomes private clubs practicing freestyle only. Folkstyle is just a memory for old-timers on message boards.
  23. I do think he is better or as good as these awesome all-time great collegiate wrestlers. More dominant than Dake in many ways. I do not root for him, but respect for Yianni.
  24. Not all conferences have conference duals - EIWA has steady Ivy duals within EIWA and after that is it somewhat random. Also, medical forfeits are not all bad for the sport, even it they can be abused to duck a seeding risk. It is a rough sport and having wrestlers rest for some duals and heal from injury should not be penalized even if there are some disappointments and imperfections.
  25. I think these are all qualifers for NCAA tourney - at least the last time I checked.
