  1. ok, but its a pretty tough tournament
  2. Disagree w this take entirely
  3. Results?
  4. Now ranked #7, guessing he might move up by NCAA's if he wins out through Easterns. Three other pretty tough guys at 197 in EIWA: Cardenas - Cornell; Luke Stout - Princeton; and Louie DePrez - Binghamton. So winning Easterns will likley mean at least two tough matches for him. Might be better off with the 6th or 7th seed as the best chance to make the NCAA finals. He looks very tough. Brooks, Hidlay and Buchanan are seniors and he apparently has another year after this one.
  5. You are correct sir!
  6. Sad to note the revent passing of Denny Diehl - who loved the sport and was a great contributor from the media and sports information angle. https://eiwawrestling.org/sports/wrest/2023-24/releases/20240104oka3pi
  7. Lehigh release leaves some doubt on Stanich's redshirt: Lehigh Probable Starters (Rankings FloWrestling/InterMat 1/16/24) 125 Sheldon Seymour (So., Troy, Pa.) No. 2/3 Luke Stanich (Fy., Roxbury, N.J.) 133 No. 1/1 Ryan Crookham (Fy., Hellertown, Pa.) 141 No. 13/18 Malyke Hines (Jr., Kissimmee, Fla.) 149 Kelvin Griffin (Fy., Berwick, Maine) Drew Munch (Jr., East Stroudsburg, Pa.) 157 No. 25/23 Max Brignola (Jr., Fair Haven, N.J.) 165 No. 27/NR Jake Logan (Jr., New Rochelle, N.Y.) 174 Connor Herceg (So., Nazareth, Pa.) 184 Jack Wilt (So., Madison, N.J.) 197 No. 7/7 Michael Beard (Jr., Reading, Pa.) 285 No. 8/8 Nathan Taylor (So., Brookville, Pa.)
  8. Lehigh wrestlenation - Is it now clear that Stanich will not redshirt? Hard to sit a guy with a #2 ranking (even if 125 rankings are more valatile than usual). He is fun to watch.
  9. Maybe he thinks its like "50 Cent"
  10. I noticed this.
  11. Mountain Hawks in the Rankings #17 Lehigh hosts the Quakers with seven Mountain Hawks ranked in the top 25 of their weight classes, led by the top-ranked wrestler at 133, Ryan Crookham (#1). #2 Luke Stanich (125), #7 Michael Beard (197), #8 Nathan Taylor (285), #13 Malyke Hines (141), and #23 Max Brignola (157) account for the other Mountain Hawks nationally ranked heading into Friday's dual. Probable Lineup at Lehigh 125 – Max Gallagher 133 – #10 Michael Colaiocco or Alex Almeyda 141 – #13 CJ Composto 149 – Andy Troczynski or Kelly Dunnigan 157 – #24 Lucas Revano or Jude Swisher 165 – Kaya Sement 174 – #7 Nick Incontrera 184 – #17 Maximus Hale 197 – Martin Cosgrove or #24 Cole Urbas 285 – John Stout Sunday match v. Stanford in the Palestra: Cardinal in the Rankings Stanford travels to the City of Brotherly Love with five grapplers nationally ranked, with #11 Daniel Cardenas (157) leading the team. #12 Nico Provo (125), #17 Nick Stemmet (197), #21 Jaden Abas (149), and #21 Lorenzo Norman (174) even out the other Cardinal who are ranked in the top-22 of their weight classes this week. Above is cut and paste from Penn's web page. Should be a lot of good individual matches in both. Lehigh seems to have the edge in clear favorites and likely bonus points. Penn probably has to win at least 5 of 6 from 141 through 184 - which will not be easy.
  12. Guys ranked in the top 15 are legit contenders for AA, even if not likely AA's. Ranking are not perfect but all seem pretty good! Not many PSU wrestlers underperform their rankings/seeds at nationals, but Kasak is not yet proven. Early signs are pretty good!
  13. these and Dan Gable are good nominations. Maybe Jon Trenge the year he lost in the last few seconds to Damion Hahn in the NCAA finals? Was that the year before Trenge met Cael (bumping up a weight for his 4th NCAA title) in Albany?
  14. There has been some consolidation, but I am too lazy to look up how it has been working and its impact on Edinboro and the teams of the consolidating schools.
  15. Wow - Iowa might pitch a shutout.
  16. Probable Lineup vs. North Carolina 125 – Max Gallagher or Ryan Miller 133 – #10 Michael Colaiocco or Alex Almeyda 141 – #12 CJ Composto or Spencer Barnhart 149 – Andy Troczynski or Kelly Dunnigan 157 – #25 Lucas Revano or Jude Swisher 165 – Kaya Sement 174 – #11 Nick Incontrera 184 – #16 Maximus Hale 197 – Martin Cosgrove or #25 Cole Urbas 285 – #33 John Stout or Zach Delsanter Close matches: #25 Spencer Moore (125) #5 Lachlan McNeil (141) #20 Gavin Kane (184) #18 Max Shaw (197) https://www.espn.com/watch/player/_/id/fbca2c4b-6427-4c56-8217-7f620cd296c0 Not sure if this is ESPN or pay ESPN+

  18. this should be a good match! Hoping Vito competes. Penn v UNC tonight should have some good matches as well.
  19. I hear you - but seems pretty clear that his wrestlers love him and visa versa so have to tip the hat to him there. How many normal coaches are there and what is wrestling coach normal? Its not regular person normal.
  20. BTN is a good value for passionate wrestle-fans. Not in love with the announcers though and often turn the sound off as I ease into my crumudgeon years.
  21. Not sure how true this is, but I assume the rate of improvement for even the bluest blue chip rookies (true frosh and redshirts firt time in the lineup) is a little higher than 2nd, 3rd and 4or 4+ year wrestlers. Of course, while it seems like Fix has not gotten better, seems like VIto did later in his collegiate career. A lot of the 1st year guys in the poll might be even closer to the top guys by March. I think we will get a few rookies in the semis - wehther or not they make the finals or win it will be close.
  22. Kidding aside, hope that the growth of womens wrestling leads to new mens teams as well. On my wish list is Syracuse, West Chester, Yale, and Delaware. In general seems like south should be ready for more teams as well.
  23. is it now clear he is not competing in NCAA's this year?
  24. I would bet on Kerk to beat anyone as he is very big and very strong. Maybe AB would have a shot, but lean Kerk.
  25. Poz looks good at 197!
