  1. I am not a fan. Until Congress does something we are stuck with this. In any event, welcome to the other side!! mspart
  2. You can watch the video which shows exactly what End Wokeness said. Again shooting the messenger so you don't have to listen to the truth of the matter. You really are a piece of work. mspart
  3. Welcome back to Standard Time everyone, except you Arizonans and Hawaiians!! mspart
  4. So what you are saying is that federal employees that work to undermine the President should be protected from unemployment. Got it. You would have been apoplectic if people had been trying to undermine Biden for these 4 years. And dont' tell me you wouldn't. mspart
  5. Funny how that didn't happen during his presidency. It is still higher than when Trump was in office. I will not doubt that the pandemic spending had to happen. Government forced businesses to shut and government needed to make that right. But Biden didn't need to jump on the bandwagon and continue the spending as the pandemic economic crisis was winding down and then we got hit with the inflation reduction act which was a smokescreen for funding clean energy projects. Fortunately, Rs gained the House and that stopped the stupid spending. As a result, inflation has gone down but that is no thanks to Biden. See, mixed government is a good thing most of the time. mspart
  6. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/trump-says-liz-cheney-might-not-be-such-a-war-hawk-if-she-had-rifles-shooting-at-her At an event late Thursday in Arizona with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, Trump was asked whether it was strange to see Cheney campaign against him. The former Wyoming congresswoman has vocally opposed Trump since the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol and endorsed Democrat Kamala Harris, joining the vice president at recent stops as they try to win over Republicans disaffected with Trump. Trump called Cheney “a deranged person” and added, “But the reason she couldn’t stand me is that she always wanted to go to war with people. If it were up to her we’d be in 50 different countries.” The former president continued: “She’s a radical war hawk. Let’s put her with the rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her. OK, let’s see how she feels about it. You know, when the guns are trained on her face. “You know they’re all war hawks when they’re sitting in Washington in a nice building saying, oh gee, well let’s send 10,000 troops right into the mouth of the enemy,” Trump said. This is what he said. He did not say she should die, be executed, or anything. He just said if she is such a war hawk, she should go to a theater of war and see how she likes it. Kudos to PBS for publishing the complete remarks. mspart
  7. For those against tariffs. If we trade with Country A and they charge tariffs on our stuff, should we charge tariffs on their stuff? If we trade with Country B and they don't charge tariffs on our stuff should we charge tariffs on their stuff? If we trade with Country C and they continually steal proprietary data from us and undercut our manufacturing due to their low payrates and charge tariffs on our stuff, should we charge tariffs on their stuff? mspart
  8. FDR kept us in the depression for a lot longer than necessary because of his policies. mspart
  9. Interesting update from Argentina: https://finance.yahoo.com/news/argentina-cuts-interest-rate-inflation-160110392.html Argentina cuts interest rate to 35% as inflation outlook eases BUENOS AIRES (Reuters) -Argentina's central bank cut its benchmark interest rate to 35% in a surprise move on Friday, boosting local markets and signaling growing optimism by the government that it can tame the country's triple-digit inflation. The 500 basis point cut was the seventh time the policy rate has been lowered since outsider libertarian President Javier Milei took office in December when it was 133%. Bond prices rose on average 2% on the news and the country risk index fell. Milei has targeted the country's inflation rate, long a drag on savings and economic activity. While annual inflation remains above 200%, monthly inflation has dropped sharply to around 3.5% from over 25% at the end of 2023. "The decision is based on the liquidity context and the drop observed in inflation expectations," the central bank said in a statement, which also pointed to the government's "strengthening of the fiscal anchor." Things are going in the right direction for Argentina under Milei's guidance. Many said he would ruin the country. I believe many in the country are breathing sighs of relief as the stranglehold of unbridled inflation is greatly lessening. It is still too early to say Milei has won the day but things are definitely moving in the right direction from a macro economic perspective. mspart
  10. The Hugh Hewitt thing was quite remarkable. Even after Bezos told his folks that they were not trusted, Hewitt tries to tow that line and is completely shot down. Bezos should fire those two immediately. mspart
  11. I only know of three cases and those are not done with the appeals. First case he was found liable for sexual harrassment. The plaintiff couldn't even state when it happened. How do you have a jury that finds liability for something that the accuser doesn't remember when it happened? Good question, there is no good answer. Second, Trump found guilty in overvaluing his property even though there was no one to accuse him of wrong doing other than the prosecutor. That is under appeal as well. Third, Trump found guilty in a case where a misdemeanor that was beyond the statute of limitations was resurrected to become a felony because the misdemeanor was pursuant to another crime. Never mind the Feds refused to prosecute, NYC decided to do it. As has been stated here many times, the "another crime" was never stipulated in the indictment, and the judge told the jury they didn't have to agree what he did, just that he did something and that would count as a verdict of guilty. That one also is under appeal and not finished. So he has lost 3 of 3 since leaving the WH as far as I know. But these will surely be overturned on appeal, at least the last two. So that will be 66.67% winning if he wins the two and 100% if he wins the three appeals. mspart
  12. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_and_business_legal_affairs_of_Donald_Trump ... From 1973 until he was elected president in 2016, Donald Trump and his businesses were involved in over 4,000 legal cases in United States federal and state courts, including battles with casino patrons, million-dollar real estate lawsuits, personal defamation lawsuits, and over 100 business tax disputes. ... Of all cases with a clear resolution, Trump was the victor 92 percent of the time. Looks like his record is pretty good. mspart
  13. https://www.foxnews.com/media/cbs-60-minutes-airs-two-different-answers-from-vp-harris-same-question CBS '60 Minutes' airs two different answers from VP Harris to the same question CBS aired two different answers to the same question in its "60 Minutes" interview with Vice President Kamala Harris, replacing a clip from the Democratic nominee that aired on "Face the Nation" Sunday when the interview package aired in a primetime special on Monday. Harris was mocked by conservatives when footage of her offering a lengthy "word salad" that was aired by CBS on Sunday’s "Face the Nation" to promote the "60 Minutes" sit-down, when Bill Whitaker asked why it seemed like Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wasn’t listening to the United States. However, the vice president’s lengthy answer didn’t make the version that aired on Monday night on "60 Minutes" and a shorter, more focused answer to the same question was shown instead. "Well Bill, the work that we have done has resulted in a number of movements in that region by Israel that were very much prompted by, or a result of, many things, including our advocacy for what needs to happen in the region," Harris responded in the "Face the Nation" version. Sometimes interviews are edited to save time, but when CBS aired the interview on Monday night, Harris had a different answer to the exact same question. "We are not going to stop pursuing what is necessary for the United States to be clear about where we stand on the need for this war to end," Harris said. It is unclear why CBS aired two different answers to the same question. However, CBS has posted both clips on YouTube. CBS News did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The Trump campaign called for CBS to release the full interview unedited on Tuesday. mspart
  14. We visited my wife's aunt in Enterprise Oregon which is very small and impossible to get to. The big town is La Grande Oregon!! Anyway, on our way back home I wanted to go through Walla Walla WA, because I had never been there. Doesn't everyone want to say they've been to Walla Walla? Now I can. Just before crossing the border into WA, we went through Milton-Freewater, a little town so far out of the way that they do their sports in WA. Gas was roughly 50 cents cheaper in Milton-Freewater than it was 20 minutes away in Walla Walla. Now Walla Walla is easier to get to for gas delivery than Milton-Freewater, you would think it would be the other way around. But it was cheaper in Milton-Freewater. All thanks to the CO2 credits producers have to buy to make petrol. And they charge that back to the consumer of course. mspart
  15. Whoops, there goes mail in voting!! mspart
  16. Interesting how the blindfolded who can't/won't see what is right if front of them make fun of those who can/will. The topic of censorship is not even a debate anymore. It happened, it is happening, and the government and political leaders are promising more if given the chance. It's all fun and games until you finally find yourself without the freedom to express yourself freely. And then it is too late. mspart
  17. Congrats to DT and Vito!! mspart
  18. His last two UFC bouts lacked fire. He was tentative in both bouts and as a result lost. mspart
  19. WA is 3.99/gallon for cheap gas. 4.44/gallon diesel. That is the cheapest. I see these prices on my way to and from work. The last station I pass is 4.99/gallon both cheap gas and diesel. I'm not sure how they sell any petrol but they are still there. We have the one the highest gas taxes and then we have a CO2 addition that makes our gas 2 most expensive in the nation. There is an initiative on the ballot to remove the CO2 aspect of the added cost to gas, diesel, nat gas, propane, home heating if you use nat gas, and all the food and goods that are delivered by trucks powered by the same. mspart
  20. Yeah so Taylor didn't go to the Olympics. But no one beat Taylor at 92 and Taylor went and is in the bronze medal match. It's who wins the trials. If the youngins win, they go. If the oldie goldies win, they go. The best goes period. mspart
  21. On to the flaming ballot boxes. Not only was the car a volvo that carried the perps, but the incendiary devices said Free Gaza. https://apnews.com/article/ballot-drop-box-fires-portland-vancouver-60fea753ceb761624e6aba49f0e9dd99 Sounds like a nasty Trump loving deplorable piece of garbage if you ask me. mspart
  22. WA is all mail in vote. My wife and I voted yesterday. Will mail it in today. Mail in vote has its problems no doubt. But the fact you get to review the ballot for hours if you want to is nice. Being surprised by the contents of the ballot at the voting booth I never liked. That said, I do like voting in person and showing ID and I think that is the best way to handle voting. Even with that, we had some weird election results before mail in voting. We've had more since. There is always a way to find more ballots it seems. Before mail in, the governors race was won on the 3rd recount paid for by the democrat. Mysteriously, a bunch of ballots were found in the trunk of a car. The D won that last recount after the R had won the vote, and two recounts. mspart
  23. Why are we still having 3+ hour lines to vote? Serious question. mspart
  24. Vito for bronze, DT in repechage. Green and Burroughs out. Not how this was expected to go I think. But it is not surprising. JB has been at this a long time and and Father time was bound to get the best of him. But he did better than most anyone his age in the highest level of sport. Green has been our best for a long time. Thank you JB and JG for all the years of excitement you have provided us. Best of luck to Vito and DT in your upcoming matches!! mspart
  25. So Sad was losing right up to the last few seconds when he got a 4 pointer? That is amazing and does not spell good things for DT if he makes it to the Bronze medal match against the Iranian. That actually says a lot of for the Iranian. Sad did what Sad does which is win, but he rarely is in the position of being behind and needing a herculean effort to win. Great that he did but I think this says a lot for Ghasempour. mspart
