Maybe we can boil the ocean!! mspart

Yes, that has made the news around here in Seattle area. The perp has a history of violent behavior. And he stabbed one of the dogs she was taking care of and dumped it in a garbage can. Rarely for here, he has a $5 million bail set. I think that is a record for Seattle in the last 4-5 years. If he is the perp, he needs some serious life sentencing to happen. https://komonews.com/news/local/seattle-crime-madison-valley-carjacking-homicide-murder-victim-ruth-dalton-dog-walker-beloved-woman-community-member-search-suspect-stolen-vehicle-brighton-playfield-washington-king-county# During a press conference Wednesday afternoon, SPD Deputy Chief Eric Barden said 48-year-old Seattle resident Jahmed Haynes was arrested by members of the SWAT team earlier that morning. Haynes was seen near his residence when SWAT took him into custody. Haynes had a bloody knife and keys to Dalton’s vehicle on him at the time of his arrest. https://www.fox13seattle.com/news/jahmed-haynes-deadly-seattle-carjacking SEATTLE - The man arrested in connection to a carjacking that killed an 80-year-old woman in Seattle's Madison Valley neighborhood had previously served time for vehicular homicide, court records show. Jahmed Kamal Haynes, 48, is accused of pushing beloved dog walker Ruth Dalton from her car and running her over, killing her. He's also accused of stabbing Dalton's dog to death and dumping its body in a park. Haynes was arrested at his Seattle home by SWAT on Wednesday. During a press conference, Seattle Police described Haynes as a "violent person," adding that he has eight prior felonies and a history of mental health concerns. Looks fairly guilty with that stuff on him. This guy is a bad dude. Glad he is behind bars. I don't know about where y'all live but violent crime is been rising in Seattle since 2020 and is near the peak with record homicides this year, assaults are up, theft is up. The thugs are rarely held accountable. I'm really glad this thug is behind bars where he can't hurt anyone else. mspart

I know you can't boil the ocean, I just assumed that meant you can't cool the ocean either. Wow, learn something new everyday! mspart

Well, now we have global cooling to obsess about. But never fear, they changed the language to global climate change to to cover that eventuality. So we can just obsess about it no matter which way it goes and we are right. mspart

That is a proud moment indeed. Getting a youngin to begin investing for their future is quite the deal. Congratulations. My mom "made" me invest the max amount to the company matching level when I got my first big job. Been investing ever since. Almost to a point where I can retire. Probably another year or two. mspart -
Who Will Increase Deficit Spending The Most?

Perhaps I misunderstood. I thought the effort was general, not targeted to a few individuals. How does targeting a few individuals help anything? mspart -
Except that she proclaimed for all to hear that her own parents would be suspicious of her because of her wealth. Just what was her point in saying that? I don't think anyone begrudges her wealth, but to be that wealthy and tell everyone that this is wrong is hypocritical at the highest level. I mean that is gold medal worthy. mspart

Except borrowing money is not considered income. Because you have to pay it back. But more to the point, if borrowed money was taxed, that would shut down business expansion, business creation, and business investment. I don't think that is what this country needs. What this country needs is to stop spending so much. The more you have the more you spend. There is zero fiscal responsibility in DC and we are 30Trillion in the hole because of it. If we maintained a balanced budget, we would still have that debt but it would be manageable. Growing it all the time is not manageable at some point. mspart -
Says the woman who has 3 mansions, and has a net worth of $150 million. It is a bit incongruent to be that wealthy and not think for a second that her own parents wouldn't be suspicious of her. I don't care that she has money, but what a hypocrite in saying these things while everyone knows she is filthy rich. Another incongruence that the DNC is 100% about. They changed the rules and Kamala, who got zero votes both in 2020 and 2024 primaries is now the nominee. They prevented Bernie in 2016. Again, the blatant hypocrisy on display is staggering. She is trying to talk from a moral authority standpoint but in fact is projecting the whole time. mspart

Nah, we don't go after those guys. Congress will most likely be exempt from this requirement. mspart -
And who pray tell, decides who is racist and who is not? And when is this determination made? Is it a nurse that decides, or a committee? We were very close to this with covid for sure. There were states that would not allow you to work if you didn't get the jab. In the case of WA, we are still feeling those effects in the ferry system which has an issue with too few employees to keep the schedule and too few boats (16 of 26 are operational). All this due to covid. There are a lot of folks that depend on the ferry to get to work on either side of puget sound that are now greatly inconvenienced by late boats or cancelled routes. Snow plow workers were also eliminated because they wouldn't take the jab. I think they fixed that up but the first winter around here, the passes were closed a lot more than usual due to the shortage of acceptable workers. mspart

Sorry Know Nothing. The topic at the time I posted was talking about billionaires and 1%. And there was argument about that. So I thought it a good thing to put in facts and data from the US government to clear up the confusion. Sorry I got your knickers in a bunch. mspart -

Who Will Increase Deficit Spending The Most?

Yes, and that info is not available that I know of. The question was starting to hinge on the 1% and what they pay. The table was added to show what the IRS says on the subject. mspart -
You deny the left would explode? That's rich. mspart

This is correct. But there would be outrage if he or Vance or some other GOP guy said they liked white guy tacos. Yes, the spice is the issue underlying the whole thing, but again, you cannot say with a straight face that this would not be looked upon well by D's or media if Trump or Vance or some other white GOP guy said that. That was the whole point of the thread. I'm not mad at Walz for saying this. I don't care other than the double standard that is applied. I think it is funny when a double standard is pointed out, the folks on the left just go nuts. mspart

Its a little thing called double standard. Weird you don't understand that. mspart

https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2024/jul/24/threads-posts/no-trump-isnt-backing-down-from-a-debate-with-harr/ A July 23 Threads post included side-by-side photos of Harris and Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, with the caption, "Trump has announced he won’t debate Kamala Harris. Is he afraid of her?" The claim isn’t accurate. On a July 23 call with reporters hosted by the Republican National Committee, Trump said he’d be "absolutely" willing to debate Harris "multiple times." "I think if you’re … the Democratic nominee or Republican nominee, you really have an obligation to debate," he said. We rate the claim he announced he won’t debate Harris False. So your claim Vak, is false. mspart

Yeah, that is not good. If that was not the case before, then this does not make things better I would agree. I'm not a Twit or an X so I don't know but I can see that this would not be conducive. mspart
