What do you think about Trump not divesting from his private businesses like every other president? Is maintaining a huge private business, which isn't subject to the same type of scrutiny as a government agency, not a way to reduce transparency? Do we know that he wasn't accepting bribes through investments in his business? For example, he does a ton of private business with the Gulf States, while controlling US Public Policy towards them. Is that accountable and transparent?

This is one of the most naive/gullible beliefs I've ever seen. Lying is the foundational principle of Trump's worldview. You have to be willingly ignorant to actually believe that.
-
Yes, that is exactly what this "mega-prison" is for. That's why I called it a concentration camp. Prisoners are being held, without any personal rights or protections, for political reasons, not being charged or tried for crimes, and not given a release date. He has was never convicted of a crime. He was not proven to be part of a gang. He has no arrests since mistakenly being arrested the first time. He was here legally with the proper work permits, paying his taxes, and raising his family. And then he was deported with no due process and currently no prospect of reuniting with his family. And you're still trying to see things "both ways." There is very little gray here, my man. The Supreme Court ruled 9-0 that he was illegally deported. The Trump admin admitted he was illegally deported. But now they're lying in the media because they know people like you are going to look for every possible opportunity to not believe the obvious truth. Let's spin it around. There was "obviously a reason" Trump was charged with fraud in NY. Why don't you think he should have been detained and held without trial? Surely, the reason they charged him is good enough to assume he's guilty and keep him in jail, no? Clearly there was a reason that Hitler wanted to kill the Jews? And clearly those people Stalin killed were enemies of the state, right? And surely, we had a good reason for Japanese Internment? Right? This is an abdication of moral judgment and it is cowardly. It is exactly the type of cowardice (and cowardice is giving you the benefit of the doubt) that allowed German citizens to ignore what was happening in their country.

Why would you share something you know to be false without any kind of critical qualification? You can't naively post ignorant stuff and then complain when people poke fun at or criticize you. You do this frequently and then complain when people point out how stupid some of the stuff you post is. "Oh, I don't actually believe that. I'm just posting what others are saying." Maybe you should take some.....personal accountability?

You're leaving out the very important fact that his deportation order in 2019 was rescinded. The administration is lying to stoke their racist base to defend them (while quietly admitting they did this illegally in court proceedings). You have to be smarter than this. You can't be this gullible. Use some critical thinking skills. Person A says the sky is green. That doesn't actually mean the sky is green.

You guys are arguing that a father should be left to rot in one of the worst prisons in the world because we made a mistake, but "it's not our problem" anymore. Then @Ohio Elite brings up a totally unconnected murder case to justify it. Do you think he would argue we should leave Laken Riley in prison because it's not our problem anymore, even though we've acknowledged it was a mistake? I wonder what the difference is between these two legal residents is? Hmmmmm.....What else would you call that kind of enthonationalism?

You are a Nazi. There is no grey area anymore. Pure bloodlust and hatred.
-
You don't believe in anything other than the domination of "the other." Truth is fiction and fiction is truth. We can't possibly know anything. All we know is what we have the power to do - in this case, deport whoever we want, whenever we want. This is fascism.
-
No, I am believing in the findings of the United States Legal System.
-
The Nazis said the Jews and Communists were destroying German society. He was not deported in 2019 because it was found that the claim he had gang ties was not reliable (officer later suspended) and there was zero hard evidence. You are believing what you want to believe because it makes you happy inside to see a non-white person kicked out of the country. The cruelty is the point with you people. You relish it.
-
It is not "El Salvador's" problem! It is our problem because it's our mistake! Jesus Christ, are you a toddler? Where is your sense of accountability? This is how fascism happens. You are the middle class German citizen of the 1930s - turning a blind eye to obvious injustice because it's happening to people who aren't like you.
-
Hilarious that our resident brown shirts are trying to argue something that not even the Trump administration is arguing. They already said it was a mistake to deport him!!! “On March 15, although ICE was aware of his protection from removal to El Salvador, Abrego García was removed to El Salvador because of an administrative error,” the government wrote in court records. https://www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/2025/04/01/trump-el-salvador-maryland-deportation/ This guy was here legally, married to an American citizen, father of an American child, working and contributing to society - everything Conservatives say they value in the "good" immigrants. Now he's in a concentration camp with zero legal protections and no set release date. It was never about that. If they're not white, they're presumed guilty.
-
You are factually wrong here. There is no debate. His order for deportation was revoked. He was here legally. He followed the rules of immigration rules, just like you guys cry about all the time.

Legal resident* my bad

Congratulations, you've stumbled upon the concept of "due process." It used to mean something in this country!

President of El Salvador, while sitting next to Trump, says he will not return the citizen who was wrongly deported without a hearing. The Supreme Court ruled 9-0 that this action was illegal and Trump must facilitate the man's return. This "prison" is in fact a concentration camp, by every definition of the word. Inmates are often not formally charged with crimes, nor are they given a release date. Human Rights Watch is not aware of anybody being released from the prison. The population is now at 40,000. Prisoners' heads are shaved and they are packed into rooms like cattle with up to a 100 other prisoners. Meanwhile, the American gestapo are ambushing legal residents and deporting them for their views on a foreign country. How can any of you keep defending this? What will it take for you to wake up?

Trump Caves on Tariffs - 90 Day Pause

Looking forward to usual suspects on this board claiming that the Tariffs are a great idea and it's also a great idea to stop them! -
1) They had the votes to pass the public option. They tanked it as a gesture to bipartisanship (also to placate their own donors). It was one of the stupidest decisions in political history - and why Obama was a complete failure. They sabotaged their own system in hopes the Republicans would be nicer to them moving forward - which of course they weren’t. 2) Bernie’s plan didn’t eliminate all private insurance. It still allowed for supplemental private insurance in addition to M4A if people chose to do so. The UK has private health insurance. It’s not super popular because the essentials are already covered under the NHS.

@Husker_Du Care to respond to this? From one of your own!

There's a difference between supporting tariffs in certain situations and the absolute insanity that is the Trump tariff policy. Putting huge blanket tariff's on almost every country in the world is crazy. We should not have a trade surplus with every country in the world. The United States cannot produce tons of important, everyday products. For example, America has never had, nor will it ever have, a major coffee industry because it is not a local crop. We do not have the climate to produce it at scale. So, we import almost all of the coffee we drink. Now, Trump has put 10%+ tariffs on Columbia and Brazil, where most of our coffee comes from. All this does is make your morning cup more expensive. It will not result in the booming of a domestic coffee industry. There is no purpose to this other than virtue signaling to stupid people.
-
You can never solve that problem without heavily regulating domestic industry and strengthening labor power (specifically union power). Corporate power - through their agents, the Republicans from the start and later the Democrats - worked extremely hard to dismantle that labor power and outsource their labor to cheaper international sources. There is zero possible world where Trump is willing to address that issue. The tariffs are like putting a bandaid over a gaping wound.

How are they working out so far? Like you expected? Feeling good?
