  1. Briefly. They were shamed into giving Iowa State a fourth place trophy after all, and have since backtracked.
  2. Iowa already has a team trophy locked in at fourth. They can also go as high as third. Oklahoma State can go as high as second or as low as fourth. Nebraska will be second or third.
  3. Congratulations @CHROMEBIRD, winning by the smallest of margins over @flyingcement Two of the best posters on these forums are now the two finest judges of talent. And if you recall from the first post, CHROME took the second longest of shots. The sum of his ten wrestlers' seeds was 237, just one away from @GimJustafan's 238 high total. Let that be a lesson to all those who thought there was gold in the 17/18 hills. Like wrestling, this stuff is hard. So, thank you to all who participated. There is always next year. As for the Dark Horses who made this all possible, Northwestern's Trevor Chumbley shall rule them all. He didn't just put up the highest total, his total was more than the next two wrestlers combined. Coming soo - how each seed performed.
  4. Thx. Finishing up the DHD standings.
  5. McEnelly is the future of 184.
  6. Any win in the finals produces a new team scoring record.
  7. 169 and counting. Crickets from PSU's biggest fan?
  8. 165 and counting. You out there @jajensen09, @Jimmy Cinnabon
  9. Sparks is starting to sound like Buck Laughlin (Fred Willard) in Best in Show. "Doctor, question that's always bothered me and a lot of people: Mayflower, combined with Philadelphia - a no-brainer, right? Cause this is where the Mayflower landed. Not so. It turns out Columbus actually set foot somewhere down in the West Indies. Little known fact."
  10. WrestleStat getting some much deserved love from Hidlay/Sparks.
  11. He definitely helped his stock. And coming back to wrestle the backside helps even more.
  12. 158 points and counting
  13. Penn State has 155 points. A third or fifth place win is worth 1 more placement point. A first place win is worth 4 more placement points. PSU's 9 remaining wrestlers can earn 18 more placement points, putting their total at 173. They can afford to miss out on a few third place finishes as long as they get enough bonus points to cover the difference. It will be much harder to do if they lose a final, but not impossible. Technically they can lose all three finals, as long as they pinfall everyone else, and still get the record. Sucks to be them.
  14. A little known part of the rule is that the count stops when both wrestlers are on their feet, or if the defensive wrestler is on their feet while the offensive wrestler is still on the mat. The referee shall stop the count when the offensive wrestler improves their position, moves their hold back up above the buttocks of the defensive wrestler, releases the hold or when both wrestlers rise to the standing position. When dropped to a lower leg, there is no mandatory count when both the offensive and defensive wrestlers are in the rearstanding position. The mandatory count also stops if the defensive wrestler is on their feet while the offensive wrestler is still on the mat. (Rules 5.7.12b)
  15. I have gone back and forth on the push out. I thought I wanted it, now I think I don't. But I definitely 1000% want the point for the lost challenge.
  16. And voting yes on the point for a lost challenge
  17. Great story by Hidlay about Trephan and Trumble being roommates earlier this year and now meeting at NCAAs with a trip to 3/4 on the line
  18. Nice win by Kennedy. How does 174 resolve at Iowa next year? With Kennedy 3/4 and Arnold undersized at 184, and both guys bleeding Black and Gold.
