A Weaponized Executive Branch
Wrestleknownothing replied to Ban Basketball's topic in Non Wrestling Topics
Let's address the second paragraph first. I find the whole what if / hypothetical stuff to be a massive waste of time. The accusation-through-leading-question is an awful technique, as well. If you then follow it with "what? I was just asking", that is worse than blaming the ref for your own shortcomings. As for the first paragraph, the vast majority of the time a loss is not attributable to a ref mistake or a biased ref. That is what losers tell themselves so that they do not have to admit that they were second best. Failing to recognize your shortcomings is a sure path to not getting better. As for how Trump fits in this, I lost track of how many Trump nominated judges pointed out that there was no basis for overturning the election. Not exactly biased refs. At least not biased against Trump. Trump literally refuses to admit that he lost when every referee, biased for him and biased against him, says he did. Hence he refuses to get better. And it saddens me that he drags down my Republican party with him. While I am skeptical that a case in NY would have ever been brought had Trump not attempted to block the peaceful transfer of power, he did attempt to block the peaceful transfer of power. And that answers your question with regard to what happened. He has brought this upon himself. I am pretty sure he lied about his net worth to finance his businesses. I am also sure many others have done the same without getting prosecuted. But like in investing, hope is not a strategy. Hoping to not get indicted for your crimes is not a strategy. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time. -
Ok, so you found a second source that says that bullet point is likely a complete lie. Makes you wonder how many others are lies. It also makes you wonder if the volume of claimed achievements is meant to make it harder to spot the lies.

A lot going on there. Let's look at just one of those bullet points. The one his investors care the most about. https://futurism.com/twitter-deeper-trouble-advertisers According to the marketing firm's data, only two of Ebiquity's clients bought ads on X last month, a massive drop from 31 brands in September 2022. The consultancy works with 70 out of 100 top-spending advertisers, per Insider, including the likes of Google, Walmart, and General Motors. "This is a drop we have not seen before for any major advertising platform," Ruben Schreurs, Ebiquity's chief strategy officer, told the publication.

Seems right. How do you walk away from a chance to be the only 5x er if you have it? -

But it is an all-purpose excuse. If we fail to convict it is because of weaponization against us rather than a failure to make our case. If we are convicted it is because of weaponization rather than our guilt. It is the political version of blaming the ref when you lose. Its a losers argument. -

The first link has to do with the work of the House Oversight Committee and how much money the Taliban syphons off from US Aid. Yes, the word obstruct is used in tje article, but this isn't in reference to Jordan's impeachment investigation. The second is in relation to a foreign affairs committee request for details behind the Afghan after action report. Not even an investigation, never mind Jordan's investigation. But again the word obstruction appears. The third link makes a compelling argument that Hunter Biden committed tax crimes, and uses the lack of a direct link to Joe Biden to intuit that obstruction must be happening. But the lack of evidence is not evidence. If there is an impeachable offense there then have at it. But making an argument to the public is neccessarily one sided. Making an argument in court is very different. I will wait on the court (House investigation) to conclude. -

Can you give an example of obstruction? I am aware of Jordan's attempts to obstruct the Georgia and NY investigations into Trump and his attempts to more broadly obstruct through the creation of a "weaponization of government" panel, but I am unaware of attempts to obstruct Jordan's investigation. Add on top of that Jordan is not the bashful sort. Or is this you setting up your excuses for what you worry will be failure? -

Isn't Jim Jordan leading a House Judiciary Committee investigation into the Bidens? Surely if there is a problem Biden will face impeachment. Biden will also potentially face impeachment if there is not a problem. But if Biden does not face impeachment it surely means Jordan could not produce even the flimsiest of excuses to impeach. -
Is Aaron Brooks too short for 197?

That was some A+ level showmanship. Such wasted talent. -
Who faces the toughest test to repeat?

No talk of it that I have seen on Happy Valley Insider (old BWI) -
Truth. I have yet to read or watch any coverage as pretty much is all speculation at this point. But getting us foaming at the mouth is good for non-WKN ratings.

I didn't see it mentioned in this thread, but did see it in the Intermat preview article, that Seth Nevills landed at Maryland. -
Who faces the toughest test to repeat?

I think the plan will be to qualify via the US Open. That is what they did in the last Olympic cycle with guys like Nick Lee, Vincenzo Joseph, and maybe others. From Casey Cunnigham's season opening newsletter: "This first semester we do not compete as much as in past years because the US Open, which is an Olympic Trials Qualifier, is in December and we want to give our guys that want to compete the opportunity to do that." -
Countdown to National Singlet Day

Every day is speedo day. At least we practiced in them twice a day. You modest wrestlers are always wearing garbage bags, sweat pants, and hoodies. What are you hiding? -
I just assumed you had a boat in Albania.

Per The Athletic: The NCAA Division I Council Coordination Committee tabled a decision Wednesday to reinstate suspended athletes who engaged in sports wagering. Here’s what you need to know: The committee delayed its vote on proposals for changes to the reinstatement guidelines for two weeks at the request of the Conference Commissioners Association Executive Committee. Jon Steinbrecher, chair of the coordination committee and commissioner at the Mid-American Conference, said in a statement that the CCA executive committee sought more time for “membership feedback on the proposed adjustment.” “The council agreed with commissioners earlier this month that the penalties for wagering violations in limited circumstances should be adjusted and the respective committees moved quickly to recommend possible changes,” Steinbrecher added.

I think Brooks would be better off not wrestling. Jimmy makes it clear he cannot compete. -

Oh that he or Gable Steveson were college wrestlers. Alas they are not.
