    Last year. This year his dad said he busted his butt to bulk up to 184, but he (Gabe) would do whatever the coaches asked him to do because he is all about the team. His dad also said he never talks to him about it as he is not involved in the decision.

    One caveat. That weird orange bar includes years where they gave out AAs like covid relief funds. For example, there are two AAs in that total that never won an NCAA tournament match. I wish I could remember which team that was.

    Brands has not struggled to produce AAs, homegrown or transfers. He has struggled to produce champions.

    Counterpoint. The year OSU won was PSU's punt year. Iowa is still the only team to beat a fully committed PSU since 2010. And they were highly likely to do it two years in a row, both with predominantly homegrow and developed talent, had the pandemic not shut it down. That is more recent than OSU's title.

    While I agree with all of this, one key differentiator is Bramds has stayed more relevant than Smith was at the end. I just looked up Smith's age because I thought he was much older than Brands. I was shocked to see he is only 59.

    The Brands brothers are a huge part of the brand. You cannot separate them, so they get credit for that too, to my way of thinking.

    Only one coach has been better during Brands' tenure. Retirement doesn't look like it is needed to me at this point.

    I loved Jiro Dreams of Sushi. I love sushi even more. I used to be a non-sushi guy, now I get sushi cravings. And for any western suburbs of Chicago denizens Sushi by Chef Soon is the place to scratch any sushi itch.
