  1. Except I don't learn anything from MSNBC. Jump to a better conclusion.
  2. What does that have to do with Elon Musk?
  3. Killian Cardinale is the only two timer (2021, 2023)
  4. From a recent WSJ article: "As SpaceX deepened its ties with the national-security agencies in recent years, the company’s lawyers advised senior executives not to seek a higher security clearance for Musk that would give him access to details about sensitive programs SpaceX is involved in, according to people familiar with the matter. The reason, these people said, was that Musk would have had to answer questions from the government about his contacts with foreign nationals and drug use previously reported by The Wall Street Journal. ... The SpaceX lawyers began analyzing the risks of seeking a higher security clearance for Musk after the Journal reported in June of last year about Musk’s use of ketamine, according to one person familiar with the review. The lawyers and executives concluded that if SpaceX sought a higher security clearance, it would risk Musk being turned down, or worse, losing the top-secret clearance he already has."
  5. I would be curious to see how that works. One of the traditional jobs of the speaker is to put a tent on that circus (though republican speakers of late have had limited success at even that). As someone with no experience working with legislatures and probably little desire and even less capacity to spend extended amounts of time in DC, but with unlimited capacity to fight, I think it could be highly entertaining.
  6. Don't put too much stock in this as it only covers two 5-year periods (so call it weak evidence), but it occurred to me last night that we have a bit of a natural experiment. The 33 seed era is now 5 years old and the 16 seed era only lasted 5 years. So I thought I would take a look at what the expansion from 16 seeds to 33 seeds has meant. In theory, if seeding is accurate, then going from 16 to 33 would have different impacts on different ranges of seeds. Concentrating on the first round: In a 33 seed bracket the top 8 seeds face seeds 25 - 32 (or 33). In a 16 seed bracket the top 8 seeds may get anyone in the 17 - 33 range. So seeding all should be beneficial to the top 8. In a 33 seed bracket the 9 - 16 seeds face seeds 17 - 24. In a 16 seed bracket the 9 - 16 seeds may get anyone in the 17 - 33 range. So seeding all would be harmful to the 9 - 16 seeds. In a 33 seed bracket the bottom 16/17 seeds face the top 16 seeds. In a 16 seed bracket the bottom 17 seeds may get anyone in the 1 - 33 range (other than themselves). So seeding all would be harmful to the bottom 17. And that is what the results show. The top 8 seeds have performed better in the 33 seed era, while the next 8 seeds have performed worse, and the bottom 17 have performed worse. So, good job seeding committee.
  7. A coaching failure. Not sure how that guy has hung on so long.
  8. That is what Klosterman said made Breaking Bad unique among the four along with The Wire, Mad Men, and The Sopranos. A strong case can be made that in the latter three the characters are products of their environment that, to some extent lack agency, but in Breaking Bad it is a conscious decision by Walter White. That was certainly reinforced in the finale.
  9. From 2015 to 2023 they couldn't even get 10 guys to the tournament.
  10. Using 87% there is still a 62% chance that at least one does not AA. In the 33 seed era (last 5 years) 1-3 seeds AA'd 92.7% of the time. Using that you still get a 41% at least one does not AA.
  11. Seems likely. Last year with four #1 seeds, two #2 seeds, a #6 seed, a #7 seed, an administratively under-seeded #9 seed, and a #10 seed, they still only managed 8 AA's. It turns out 10 AA's is really hard.
  12. Fly is all our natty daddy.
  13. He was very clear, concise and factual. People jumping to the wrong conclusion because of their own biased world view is the problem.
  14. I kinda like. I think I will keep it for a while. SAVE CAMPBELL WRESTLING
  15. The NCAA is on a serious losing streak.
  16. Nico Megaludis, 2016
  17. Until and unless Lilledahal, and at least one of Davis and Barr, improve their rank/seed, I put it at 7.5.
  18. No argument. But debate team? Those were the nerds the nerds picked on.
  19. Many years ago (2011) I read an article by a favorite author, Chuck Klosterman, saying The Wire, The Sopranos, Mad Men, and Breaking Bad were the four best TV shows of the past decade. It was so long ago that Breaking Bad and Mad Men were still airing. Breaking Bad was his favorite. It was mine too until Better Call Daul. How do you rank yours?
  20. @mspart don't get me wrong, though. I consider @ionel an internet friend. We just disagree on stuff on stuff like this.
  21. Funny, I was just thinking the same thing. He's a quitter.
