Smart way to keep AJ out of trouble. Just put a mirror in front of him. According to legend, he's still posing and admiring himself.5 points

I thought it was weird I'd never seen John Smith's complete FS stats/match records. Same goes for the other US GOATs. Tom Brands, Dan Gable, Cael Sanderson, etc. Turns out they didn't exist. Until today. I created a database with stats/match records for all "pro" wrestlers. Idk if anyone cares, but I thought it was cool. You can check out John Smith's record here: https://wrestlingrecords.com/wrestler/john-smith/2 points

If they had an OW, James should get it. He really served notice that he's a middleweight to contend with. Va Tech got a good one. Forrest-Mendoza was such high level wrestling. Both are so good. Mendoza will be a hammer for Mizzou. Jax is Jax. Bassett downshifted for his match. Clearly didn't want a repeat of last year, so he rode instead of cutting, even took bottom, and wrestled pretty cautiously at the end. Props to Zepeda for giving him the rematch. Now he's the one who wants the rematch, and I assume that can happen at Super 32 if they both go. LaDarion looked smooth as usual. Burton is tough but there was never really any doubt. Agree he has future senior medalist potential if he keeps at it. Will be interesting to see how he develops under DT. Knox is clutch. Solid officiating. On point, fixed their mistakes. Well done by Flo.1 point

A true democracy would have neither a Supreme Court or a President. Maybe Kamala will withdrawl from the race?1 point

I love how A.J. poses. We have a posing room at the Pumphouse, he could teach a class. He's built a nice platform, now needs another 75 lbs. of bulk and he could win Mr. Universe.1 point

I agree with how Jonathon Turley sees it. “When Benjamin Franklin said the framers had created “a republic, if you can keep it,” he meant that we needed to keep faith in the Constitution. Law professors mistook their own crisis of faith for a constitutional crisis. They have become a sort of priesthood of atheists, keeping their frocks while doffing their faith. The true danger to the American democratic system lies with politicians who would follow their lead and destroy our institutions in pursuit of political advantage.” https://jonathanturley.org/2024/09/25/the-counter-constitutional-movement-the-assault-on-americas-defining-principles/1 point

A lot of the things people believe about him are word of mouth things American coaches and wrestlers from that time said. These people were truthfully not in a good position to know these things. The only time they would have seen Karelin is at worlds or a random tournament once or twice a year. I've never seen a Russian originating source claim that he went un scored on for X (6 or 10) years. They do say that he went undefeated for a long period and that his only two losses were controversial. And this un scored on claim from the English speaking internet can be debunked. See this (time stamp 2:22). So he was scored on in 1996 and the olympics, which keep good records, say Karelin was scored on in 1992. So there goes the 10 and 6 years possibility working back from Rulon. See, how could an American wrestler/coach have known about what happened at the Euros let alone internal Russian marches, but they still make these claims. I think the 13 years undefeated part is true, at least for his official record. In that he went undefeated in big tournaments (let's say Olympics, Worlds, Euros, Soviet/Russian nationals). Karelin did have a couple controversial wins (who hasn't to be honest) and I think they all happened with Sergei Mureiko. Ahokas, a Finnish wrestler, said this about Karelin's match in 1997 worlds against Murekio "was a gift from the referee". Karelin then had the match in 1999 with Mureiko that was overturned. To be fair to Karelin though, Ahokas could just be sour grapes, and that was there challenge system in the 90s. You couldn't challenge a live call so if a mistake did happen that was your only recourse. The article I saw regarding this did not go into specifics of the match and I don't think there is footage so who knows what happened. The only thing you can do is interview the wrestlers that took part in the match, but they will have their biases. Mureiko for his part does not seem to feel he was cheated with his career by Karelin. I saw an interview where Mureiko was asked about always losing to Karelin and he said something to the effect of "what can I do was facing a super man". And Karelin did demolish Mureiko on many occasions, including pinning him multiple times. The 887-2 was probably another American coach/wrestler tall tale that spread on the internet. Karelin lived for a while and competed in Sweden, who is recording these matches in 1991 and also following him around in Russia ha. Maybe you can come up with something close to 887 but who knows what the real number is.1 point

No matter the antics unless he screws up in a major way he will wrestle the whole season for the school. What he won't do is win it all this year and most likely not any other year. He won't have the practice partners in the room he needs to keep at the top level. He had them before but Buck Owens U just doesn't have it.1 point

I think Sad wins it going away if he's healthy. I don't think he was healthy vs Taz in that last WC and I think he'd have won the Olympics...but we'll see.1 point

My take is we will look back on Oct. 7th as the point when Iran miscalculated and went too far. They have created a situation where if they don’t respond they look weak, which is a big no no in the Middle East. It is very dangerous domestically for the regime. If they do respond, they risk getting drawn into a fight with Israel. In the last week Israel has shown that they have been pushed too far and the status quo that has existed recently is gone. All red lines that Iran and their proxies thought existed are gone. Iran’s strategy has not been to get into a war with Israel, but to use their proxies to make life unlivable there. What they didn’t count on was getting hit at home. Israel can easily take out their oil fields and refineries, which is probably check mate for the regime their. Israel has shown recently they will go their if needed. Make no mistake, taking out Nasrallah is a game changer.1 point

If it allows Israel’s northern population to return to their homes and restores Israel’s deterrence, yes. It changes a lot. If it causes Iran to be fearful of getting dragged in and back off, it changes a lot. Is it going to root out Islamic terrorism and end Hezbollah? No, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t make a difference.1 point

More examples leftie hyper-radicalism: No vax - no job. No vax - no access to medical treatment. No vax - sent to internment camp (I wonder if they intended the camp to be a 6 feet of separation camp - must be really big). Doubt climateer orthodoxy - sent to reeducation (maybe available online) and children removed from your household. Examples of rightie radicalism: Keep dudes with dicks out of my grand daughters' locker room. Praying for the souls of those killed in abortion clinics and of those doing the killing. Deplorable.1 point

Writing in the Washington Post, the former Secretary of State and Democratic presidential candidate (Hillary Clinton) said that her choice of words had been "unfortunate" and "bad politics" but it "got at an important truth." She went on to write that "deplorable is too kind a word for the hate and violent extremism we've seen from some Trump supporters." Of course, the assassination attempts are neither hateful nor violent in Hillary's opinion. But saying "All Lives Matter", "Ladies and Gentlemen", and "I Disagree with Gavin Newsome" should be punishable by incarceration.1 point

IMO this would be a great thing for a gofundme. I generally hate the ones where people are asking for money for things they should've saved for. But this is one good cause and if you set a budget, posted it here I bet you'd have needed funds in no time.1 point

This is stage 2 of a malignant narcissist's decompression. Trump's descent -- which is now underway -- will be epic. Epic. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/09/28/trump-harris-attacks-mentally-impaired-criticism/-1 points
