  2. Based on this week's individual wrestler rankings. As a reminder: I equate rank with seed Expected points is based on the average placement and advancement points by seed from 2010 - 2022 Max Points is based on the maximum placement and advancement points if the rank equals the final placement Mean Points is like Max except it accounts for the fact that there are multiple paths for wrestlers to finish third through twenty-fourth, and therefore multiple possible advancement point outcomes. I added these last two columns because of the difference between where anOSU and Mizzou would finish in the Intermat rankings based on different ways to count points.

  3. When I was a young carpenter I was sent to the home of a well to do, grumpy, old goat. When he answered the door I introduced myself and he responded, "so you're the nail bender they sent me, huh?". I'd never heard the term before and it stuck with me. He repeated my last name and then proceeded to tell me that he knew my grandfather and that in not so many words, that my grandfather was an idiot. I bit my tongue and did my work but it really bothered me the way he'd disparaged my grandfather. I didn't say anything and that ate me up all the more. That evening I told my father of this and he laughed and laughed. The more I explained how mad I was, the harder he laughed. I didn't get it. Age has helped me to see why it didn't bother my father to hear the opinion of someone he didn't respect. I also think he was proud that I kept my cool. That old grump is long dead and I'm still bending nails.

  4. Not a big deal... until I'm proven wrong. Good greco guys and ncaa folk tend to not mix well. Look at the Koontz Bros. At tOSU. Very solid greco guys, but backups at best at ncaa d1.

  6. It was good but didn't ride all the way up Weston peak, man those hills are steep and high, did hike a couple high peaks. Got good altitude acclimation so was killing it once back in the low lands.

  9. Schultz has definitely used his greco skills to an advantage in folkstyle. WIth his size and upper body positions he has been able to neutralize and shut down some guys. It's definitely an advantage with heavy.

  10. I was with an old buddy at the NYS tournament quite a few years ago (his two boys were wrestling there). We were watching a match where the brackets showed one kid was 46-0 and the other kid was something like 22-12. The 22-12 kid was pretty much having his way with the #1 seed. My buddy said, "Apparently, that kid doesn't know he's 46-0." I still snicker about that.

  14. NCAA should align with freestyle senior weights. Allows for smoother transition to world level achievements and guys can settle in weights more efficiently and effectively.

  17. Definitely more success if you are a heavyweight - Cadet and Juinor Greco World Champs since 2000 - Jacob Folsom , Cohlton Schultz , Garrett Lowney, Kamal Bey, He made it clear when he announced that he was taking a gap year and his focus would be training to make the 2024 Greco Olympic team. One of the main reasons he chose Michigan was because of his greco training.

  19. They raised the weights due to a weight cutting issue. That is now gone. I think going to 118 is fine because of the strictures of how much weight is cut and all that. I don't think unlimited should be tried. You go go to 320 I suppose but those guys are football players anyway. I say just add 118. mspart

  20. Bobby Weaver would have done well with another weight below that - 110 or so.

  23. 1. He's not irreparably brain damaged. He has Auditory Processing Disorder. All it means is that sometimes he doesn't process things he hears correctly. The problem is mitigated through closed captioning technology and speech therapy. Unless you think deaf people are unfit for office, he's perfectly capable of serving. 2. Even if he were brain damaged, the people who voted for him have a correct understanding of our system. When you vote for senate, you are voting for an agenda, not an executive. He just has to show up and vote on the issues he supports. If you support the democratic agenda, why on earth would you vote for Oz? I'd vote for someone in a coma as long as the agenda I support is properly voted for. As for the overall night, Republicans need to look in the mirror and reassess the insane path they're on. This should have been a layup for them. A glorified corpse in the white house, inflation, gas prices, wage stagnation, looming war with a nuclear power, etc...And yet, the majority of the country looked at what they had to offer and said no thanks. Embarrassing. Eventually they need to ask if they are the people living in a bubble.
