Does not mean he will get it, but I do think that puts Cannon to 174, though.  Paddy doesn't have the style and Cannon is an immediate contender at 174lbs.

This was Paddy’s last year…Birden has shown plenty but really needs to get stronger. His elusiveness and awkwardness is a problem for people…just skinny for the weight.

It was... 149 was supposed to be a one year deal at Oregon State, but when they hand you a check to wrestle 149, well that's what happens.

Looking at Flyingcement's list, there are 188 kids listed in the portal.  Thats just about 25% of total of D1 starters.

While I know that not all the kids in the portal are starters or will be starters, that figure is just crazy to consider the amount of kids looking for a new school.  Then you factor into the total the number of HS recruits that are incoming and things get crowded fast with the 30 kid roster limit.

They’ve also discussed rumors that someone (not named) was seeking a 5th year and it was Jesse. For now I’m sticking with the sentiment from throughout the season and his instagram being grateful for his time etc etc. He has been riddled with injuries in his career of varying degrees so if it works out for him fantastic but I can tell you if he gets it he’s not going in the portal. That dude is a Buckeye through and through.

How would he even look for another year? He came way too late for a free covid year and he was a four time all american. Tell him to take his ass to freestyle lol

Yeah I think I’m more sympathetic to athletes seeking additional years of eligibility than most but it would be a farce if Mendez got another year. Like you said He’s wrestled 4 postseasons.

I see no path whatsoever but I think the link guys were trying to make is TR making his push for every wrestler to get 5 years of eligibility. Even if that were to happen, and I don’t think it will, it certainly wouldn’t go into affect this year.

I saw Mendez mentioned once as a joke.  Paddy was mentioned in several threads by several people.

Until more smoke comes of it, I will only mark it up to wishful thinking.

Either way, I think Paddy is a better option than Birden at 165.  Not sure which one is better at 174.  Birden likely has more peak potential to growth at this point in their careers.

Cannon is a contender at 174lbs.  He is not at 165lbs.

I read Jesse as a joke but I saw it on a couple sites and thought these dudes might be crazy enough to have hope in that…I don’t even have the hope to entertain it. Lol

Paddy is a better option at 165 or 174 than Birden. I projected Paddy sliding into AA this year with pretty decent confidence and Birden…I mean I think that would have had to have been a phenomenal run. Paddy’s floor puts him right around there while Birden’s ceiling is there…guys just not as strong as he needs to be at the weight.

Cannon will get manhandled at 174…he may AA at 165 but he’s not reaching the podium at 174. Love the guy and he’s got heart most don’t but that’s a huge jump his bodies not ready for.
