Ref did not give a takedown, even after review

Yikes. They missed a takedown imo opinion in the Ryder block match. I thought he was clearly taken down. They also missed a take down in the kale petersen match, both would have changed the matches completely. I like to cheer for Iowa but even I was upset at the refs not calling takedowns for purdue in the first half of things.

Full of un-bias blasphemy.

Yeah, that non-call at 141 was an outcome changer!

For those who didn't see - tied 4-4 last seconds of the third.  Kale gets control as they are going out of bounds.  It's one of those "they went flying and landed out with him in control."  If they give that TD, Kale is up 3 and on top with 5 seconds left and will win.  But they don't give it to him.

They go to SV and Peterson gets a TD for the win.  That's how close that match was - a matter of inches on the TD.

Disappointing. Caliendo was always the rock but now it seems even he has plateaued

I don't understand Caliendo's regression. He may be a bit of a head case at this point, but I hope he regains his confidence and lets it fly in the postseason. He also looked pretty tired. Do you think Brands will sit him against Okie State? Dunno if he needs to settle the score with Lockett at the dual, or if the Hawks need extra bragging rights after NDs.

Biggest surprise was how Blaze was able to get to Cal's legs/that Cal seemed to welcome scrambles with Blaze, and that he seemed to have a tough time getting out from under Blaze. I guess it makes sense that Caliendo wanted to eliminate RT in the 3rd period but in hindsight maybe he should've cut him right away, work for a TD, and work from on top wipe the RT advantage.

You think with the history of OSU v Iowa and the last dual of the season Tom might be willing to give it away?

Iowa transfers get worse 90% of the time by the end of their careers

Stephen Buchanan is probably the lone exception, although he literally wrestled for 3 D-1 programs so it's hard to pinpoint how much he developed at Iowa.

Blaze reversed the advantage on Caliendos attacks, getting the leg in and Mike basically hand fights Blazes leg for the rideout. Caliendo was killing himself fighting the leg but couldn't stop or he'd get a stall and Joey was just smiling getting riding time watching Mike try to break a figure 4 with his arms????  Joey is long like Barr and has same ability to be extended on a single  and suck it in and move to the hip and finish.

Caliendo looked totally bamboozled by the leg ride. Like Iowa never coached him how to defend it.

Compare and contrast with how Marcus Blaze handled a leg ride by Davino in OT. Knew exactly how to counter it and get the match winning reversal. 100% coaching.

Beating Caliendo seems like a good indicator that Lockett and Blaze might win titles in their career.  Prior to this season the only guy he’s lost to that didn’t go on to win a title was Carson Kharchla.

Given that he's ranked behind Lockett, I think he has too much to gain by wrestling, especially since they are in different conferences.

You do realize this is just a wrestling forum right? This isn't WW2 or the movie troy. Or is @MPhillips and every one who posts in here saving/ altering outcomes of thing outside of the forum???

not sure what you’re saying but the site used to be so much better. The few remaining old timers are supposed to set an example for the new comers, not tolerate and even contribute to the constant intrusions in some of these threads. Picking on individuals viewed as less than is something I don't tolerate from working with troubled youth and  abused animals. Being called a child by a pathetic boomer makes perfect sense because being a child at heart helps me relate and keeps me feeling young and able to compete in lots of fun stuff. The 24/7’s like this bum flipped out over the removal of emojis because complimenting one another is all the attention these lonely mice get in real life. Imagine if they shut the site down! Their kids and wives might start getting the attention they need!

Blaze looked really good. Coming up from 157 he doe not lack any size at 165. In fact, he looks like a really big 165. Caliendo struggled with his length.

The battle for second place at 165 should be a good one.  People will be battling to avoid the number 4/5 seeds for sure.

I think the better question is does Taylor sit Lockett?  To the point below, Lockett probably has the 2 or 3 seed locked up, and might risk going to 4 or 5 if he takes a loss to Caliendo.   Unrelated to that, if Caliendo beats Blaze at B10’s I wonder if Bianchi could sneak in at #3 and put Caliendo/Blaze as the 4/5.
