Byrd went 5th, 5th, R12, Med RS, Champ.  That's a hell of a trajectory.  I don't blame him for having a title hangover but expect him to be at the top of his game come March.

Byrd
Crookham
Blaze
Davino
Seidel
Forrest
Larkin
Frost
Ayala
Van Dee
Serrano
Knox
Ferrera
Mougalian

1. Byrd
2. Blaze
3. Forrest
4. Seidel
5. Davino
6. Frost
7. Larkin
8. Ayala

if Crookham is seriously injured my guess is something like the above

Bryd just had a tough 3-1 win over Shawver who in the the past month Seidel has teched and Blaze majored, it’s hard to see him having enough offense to run the table at ncaas

He's pacing himself.  Those other guys will be burnt out on scoring by March ... the word.  😉

He is the slight favorite in most people’s eyes. But it wouldn’t be at all surprising if he doesn’t win it and possibly drop to 5-6 also. 133 is just that loaded this year. I don’t know if I’ve seen such a loaded weight class. So I think it’s not a slight against Byrd but an acknowledgment of how loaded this weight class is.

@Pablo has him at #7 I'd say that's a lack of respect.  🤨

133 is crazy deep.  There are 6 undefeated wrestlers that I have (I include Seidel).  He is 5th among the 6 undefeated wrestlers.  There are a couple of guys with losses ahead of him by a little bit, but if you look at their wins, they have a lot of pins and tech falls.  No competition to the level of Ayala or Campbll like Byrd has, but their wins have been dominant.

You could quibble and say oh he should be ahead of those guys, but still that puts him at 5th so it's not like 7th is this major diss.

Pablo has the 4 undefeateds above him to be clearly separated.

Undefeated NCAA champs deserve respect until proven otherwise.  😉

When b10's come around are they gonna give Byrd the number 1 seed? Seems understable. But not getting to wrestling against ohio state or penn state this year is a shame

Who won b10 last year?

Don't you dare compare annual crashout Marinelli to the short king national champion. The Byrd beats the Bull.

Crash out? Seems a bit extreme considering 2-3 of the guys he lost to at NCAAs went on to win the whole thing. Ya he never made it to the finals, but he was a juggernaut at big tens every year. Maybe I could go along with "underperformed" but "crashout" seems a little dramatic

Full of un-bias blasphemy.

Calling Marinelli a "Juggernaut" seems much more dramatic mr.IowaShootsNotAtAll. Sorry the I-L-L champ took your lunch money at B1Gs and NCAAs last year, but you'll always have this

And we have to resort to this

The winner of Davino/Blaze will have a good case for being the one seed.

Byrd best wins are Ayala and Campbell who is now out for the year, and should have a win over Van Dee come big 10s

Davino could have wins over Blaze, Ayala possibly twice ,Frost,Fuggit , Van Dee

Blaze could have wins over Davino , Ayala, Van Dee , Knox

Davino would have a really a case over Byrd

Who has Byrd lost to?  Who was last year's b10 champ?  What is the b10 seeding criteria/procedure?

Last year champ doesn’t mean anything for seeding. The seeding criteria is- a coaches vote for the pre seeds then its ,head to head, Quality wins, strength of schedule, and common opponents.

Byrd won’t have head to head with Davino/Blaze and will behind both in quality wins , strength of schedule and common opponents

Coaches vote will consider last year b10 champ and NC champ.  Davino and Blaze won't have head to head with Byrd and at least one will have a loss. How will they measure strength of schedule?  Whats definition of a quality win?  No one knows for sure how good these freshmen are in a two to three day tournament.  If the coaches all save one align behind one guy then that's your #1.

In that case, Who should be the first seed!

Just last year undefeated returning Big Ten and NCAA champ Kerkvilet was seeded behind Gable who was wrestling for the first time since 2022 . Strength of schedule was the main determining factor.

If Davino beats Blaze and runs the table he will almost certainly be top seed, if Blaze beats Davino and runs the table he has a good argument for being top seed

Bryd current best wins are over 5-5 Ayala , Brett unger ( who is still in a battle for the starting spot), a 3-1 win over Shawver who might be a double digit seed at big tens, a 3-0 over Riders Will Bentecourt. ( he has 3 wins over Campbell 1x and Kade Moore 2x who are both out for the year and won’t factor into seeding) and he still has to face Van Dee

Davino best wins are Ayala and a 2nd match coming up, 12-1 Frost , Van Dee, Ferrara (who’s battling unger for the spot) and has a match up with Fuggit and Blaze remaining. If Davino is undefeated going into BiG Tens he should be the number 1 seed.

Blaze with less of resume but still has wins over Ayala, Tyler Knox, beat Shawver 12-2, and still have Davino and Van Dee. Which ever one of Davino and Blaze that go undefeated will have a real case for 1 seed.

Is it a bit of a stretch to compare Davino and Blaze to a 2 time national champion who stepped away to win Olympic gold?

No it’s not in the context of the post. Another poster said that last year results will be included in the seeding of 133 and I pointed out that wasn’t the case last year. In no way shape or form should Gables 2022 results and past freestyle results should have anything to do with the 2025 big ten tournament seeding. He also didn’t step away to win Olympic gold, he was already Olympic champ before the 2022 season. He stepped away to join the WWE. He wrestled 2 seasons post Olympics 22 and 25.

point is big ten rarely if ever uses last seasons results and they sure didn’t last year with Kerkvilet. If Davino or Blaze run the table they will both have better 25-26 resumes then Byrd. It’s not Bryd fault it’s just how the schedule shook out this year

I guess it came down to a victory for Gable over Nick Feldman then.  Their big 10 resumes were virtually identical outside of that.
