  1. Blaze doing absolutely nothing… AGAIN
  2. My takeaway is how good Seidel must be
  3. Buckeye fan here. Blaze was most certainly not being aggressive, but I wouldn’t say he was stalling. He wasn’t backing, outside of when Davino had the single leg up (could’ve got hit there). But throughout the match he wasn’t backing and presented himself. The problem with wrestling him is he never comes out of his stance and probably has the best head hands defense in the country. Bo Bassett and all his pressure couldn’t get Blaze to come out of his stance or beat his head hands defense.
  4. Yeah it would be tough to do and may not be doable anyway. I was just throwing some ideas around Only way to get rid of it would be coaching.
  5. Yes! Watching period after period is frustrating. How do you referee it? I would propose a stall count to 5. Just like they do for stalling in any other situation. Especially if it is blatantly being done while wrestlers aren’t making contact. Going to a knee is going to happen in the engagement of action. What if both guys do it? How do you count for both guys if they don’t drop to a knee at the same time? Side ref? Something within those bounds to get it out of wrestling. Once it’s getting called wrestlers will adjust and stop doing it.
  6. He is the slight favorite in most people’s eyes. But it wouldn’t be at all surprising if he doesn’t win it and possibly drop to 5-6 also. 133 is just that loaded this year. I don’t know if I’ve seen such a loaded weight class. So I think it’s not a slight against Byrd but an acknowledgment of how loaded this weight class is.
  7. I’m giving the edge to Penn State at 125 and 133 in 1 point matches. That’s not to say Ohio State can’t win those matches. But if I had to put my paycheck on it, I’m taking Penn State. Mendez rolls to a major over Davis. Davis doesn’t have the horsepower to hang with Mendez. Van Ness wins. Stiles is tough, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he majors Stiles. He’s is way more offensive than Stiles. Cannon’s knee is tweaked, so I’m giving the edge to Duke. It’s a toss up with a healthy Cannon, but crowd will play a factor in these toss up matches. MM techs either Paddy/Birden. Haines wins a tough one against Carson. Welsh wins a gritty OT match against Fishback. Barr rolls to at least a major. Feldman wins by dec. That’s 23-7 Penn State. Let’s say they split 125/133 and possible Cannon “if healthy”. I didn’t like what I saw from him and the knee at Minnesota. Then it’s 17-13 best case scenario. Like I said I hope I’m wrong and the Buckeyes go in and pull off the upset. But I’m not a complete homer. I love the sport of wrestling first, over my favorite team, and I love the way Penn State competes. That’s who everyone is chasing and we haven’t been very successful at it.
  8. This coming from a Buckeye fan, but the Buckeyes can’t win this match. Penn State is too loaded. I think Penn State wins by a “close” 20 points. What I mean by close is the matches will be close and contested. I just think Penn State wins too many close matches in this one. I hope I’m wrong though. You take Penn State out of the mix the Buckeyes run away with the team title. They have a special squad this year, but Penn State is well…. You all know.
