As a PSU fan, thought this was interesting. Penn State getting the match count up for some of their guys that have been out.

133 Kyson Garcia Penn State
141 Aaron Nagao Penn State
141 Cael Nasdeo Penn State
149 Connor Pierce Penn State
157 Joe Sealey Penn State
165 Ty Watson Penn State
174 Sean Degl Penn State
174 William Henckel Penn State
184 Asher Cunningham Penn State
197 Josh Barr Penn State
197 Mason Ellis Penn State
285 Dawson Bundy Penn State
285 Lucas Cochran Penn State

Some good potential matchups if everything goes chalk. #1 Barr vs #3 Little are the best top two in any bracket in any of the holiday tournaments. Connor Pierce at 149 is an under the radar guy that could place here. At 174, we'll get to see Henckel against some mid-tier ranked dudes. I think he's good enough to be a lower AA right now; eager to see him in action. It'll be interesting to see Asher Cunningham as well.

Good stuff! Saw this a little while ago. Good to see Barr will get some more work and matches. Glad to see Nagao is hopefully back 🙏🏻. Always excited for younger guys like Henckel and Cunningham to get some matches in.

Still wish they’d send the whole team, looks like you can send multiples per weight. Maybe that might bring in a few more teams and jump start one of these holiday tournaments.

After seeing the entry list here's some of my interesting story lines or wrestlers to watch

125: Can Zeke Witt keep it rolling against a solid field and Ventresca after beating Provo and losing by 1 to Lilledahl.  Cornell wrestle off with both Milani and the return of Greg D both in the field.

133: Can Dillon Campbell hold his spot as the VTech starter after Seidels showing at midlands?  Cornell wrestle off with Unger and Ferrara (To me Ferrara has looked great this year).  The return of Marlon Yarbrough after having a solid 2024 NCAAs beating Nagao.  Richie Figgs in the field, does he bounce back?

141:  How's Nagao going to look, especially against this really tough field with #5, #8, #13, #14

149: Carter Young's first tournament at Maryland, and how is Daniel Zepeda going to look in his first big tournament.

157: Mac Church down at 157 for the first time, can he crack into VTechs lineup? Will the Joe Sealey hype continue, I've seen people having him as an AA after losing to Duke 2-1.

174: Two ranked wrestler, who can take this title... Henckel?

184: Same as 174, 4 ranked wrestlers and the highest is #19, who can take the title?

197: Barr vs Little.  Barr looked great in his first appearance back, does that keep up against someone on Little's level.  Can Sonny Sasso knock off someone like Little, we saw him major Novak but also take some bad losses.

Pretty sure Barr beat Little last year, and relatively early last year. He is better now than he was then, so I expect him to win this time.

When was his last match.  Any chance Little got better?  😉

I think PSU wins 174-197. Shapiro is going to cook Sealey and everyone is going to say that he cooks PJ but then PJ is going to win in March and I am going to be sad.

He did. Fairly close, may have been SV? I think it was at those Collegiate Duals in Nashville when they wrestled Ark-LR, Missouri, and maybe someone else?? Can’t remember if they had 2 or 3 duals there last year, I know this year was only 2.

**yep, it was there and in OT

Who do you think improved more since their last match?  A. The guy who lost three matches at NCAAs including one to Michael Beard and another by major OR B. The guy who made the finals and beat that same Michael Beard 14-3 along the way?

This being a general college wrestling forum, a first post under that title should have included general info about the tournament, such as this https://www.flowrestling.org/articles/15067385-all-wrestlers-registered-to-compete-at-the-2026-southern-scuffle

You might have gone into your psu fanboying after that.

Can I phone a friend?  Think @Wrestleknownothing might have a chart on this.  Seems Little has most room for improvement but maybe its a trick question.  B    🙅‍♀️

Some highlights for those competing:

133 Dom Serrano has only wrestled 2 matches this year, so I'm excited to see how he lines up against the other guys in the weight despite the unc coaching change. NC State should also be able to determine their starter going forward since Redding and Hohman are both registered

141 CJ Composto and Aaron Nagao both somewhat untested. Interested in if they can beat Ryan Jack. Vince Cornella is also going to have a chance to make a splash since he only wrestled 2 matches.

149 No. 8 recruit Daniel Zepeda makes his debut

157 Meyer Shapiro has a chance to make a bigger splash against any ranked opponents he faces

174 Aidan Wallace and Nick Hamilton are both ranked, what makes this interesting is there guys are acc rivals

197 Josh Barr gets to prove why he is number 1. Sonny Sasso also could do really well, he has a great hot streak going.

Every platform is a PSU forum when you're a PSU fan. And every post is an opportunity to make it about Penn State.

I suppose an active forum moderator could add the general information to the top?

I actually would really like to see sasso vs barr. More than likely Barr kinda does whatever he wants but I think if anyone can punish barrs shot volume it could be Sasso. Zepedas debut is exciting to me because of how he was linked to Bassett and seeing what Bo was able to do at Clarion.

Actually, Cornella has wrestled 10 matches, although 8 were while unregistered at Cornell under the Spartan Wrestling group. There he posted 7 wins by tech fall or pin with his only match to go the distance being a 10-4 decision of #18 Tom Crook

A couple notes:

Flo has Greg D and Unger listed at 125/133 for Cornell.

the Yarbrough brothers are both in the field at 133

141 has good depth. Interested to see how Cornella looks

I am picking Zepeda to win 149

165 will Anthony Ferrari do anything interesting?

174 I have Henckel winning this

197 Little will be the first big test of Barr back off of injury. I would expect Barr to cruise

There's a few Iowa fans who haven't embraced that they are a women's wrestling school now as the men's team has become irrelevant.

That's exactly what a PSU fan would say if he was trying to not look like a PSU fan . . .
