😂 just a “hater” of annoying, never-wrestled-a-match, psu bandwagon fans.

I've followed theMat and this forum for a long time. I'm not even a PSU fan, but the constant PSU pettiness from a select few is tiresome.

It is, but there are a lot of them and no monitors. It keeps many PSU wrestling fans away, which I suspect is the intent.

What are you talking about. This forum has more PSU fans than fans from any other school. And if I'm wrong on that it's because the other school's fans don't make their fanship obvious constantly

I doubt PSU has the most fans here, but in any case they clearly do not outnumber the haters. When Lehigh fans are calling you out for pettiness against Penn State the correct move is self reflection.

I don't know about that but more posters on these here boards call the PSU coach "Carl" than "Kale."

PSU fans are roundly despised by the wrestling community. Even Cael dislikes them

As a PSU fan, thought this was interesting. Penn State getting the match count up for some of their guys that have been out.

133 Kyson Garcia Penn State
141 Aaron Nagao Penn State
141 Cael Nasdeo Penn State
149 Connor Pierce Penn State
157 Joe Sealey Penn State
165 Ty Watson Penn State
174 Sean Degl Penn State
174 William Henckel Penn State
184 Asher Cunningham Penn State
197 Josh Barr Penn State
197 Mason Ellis Penn State
285 Dawson Bundy Penn State
285 Lucas Cochran Penn State

Some good potential matchups if everything goes chalk. #1 Barr vs #3 Little are the best top two in any bracket in any of the holiday tournaments. Connor Pierce at 149 is an under the radar guy that could place here. At 174, we'll get to see Henckel against some mid-tier ranked dudes. I think he's good enough to be a lower AA right now; eager to see him in action. It'll be interesting to see Asher Cunningham as well.

I have the same thoughts as you, plus looking forward to seeing Joe Sealy against some solid competition.

I am certainly not a PSU fan but I do live in Happy Valley - delightful place.  I actually worked for the Penn St athletic department for a decade so I masqueraded as a PSU fan (my version of pay for play).

Based on some of your posts - I figured you were somewhere near me in Central PA

I gotta ask Steel, and I hope this doesn't come off wrong as it's genuine curiosity - but how do you live in Happy Valley, work for PSU athletics for a decade and not become a PSU wrestling fan?

In short, because I wasn't a Penn St fan coming in, I didn't grow up in Central PA and a job/paycheck brought me here . . . I appreciate Penn St wrestling for the quality and was ever present in Rec or the BJC but I will candidly admit I very much enjoyed the Nolf/Zain/Bo era Penn St more than the most recent iterations of wrestlers.  I rarely missed a match prior to 2022ish (was easy to just walk in w/ my All-Access credential).  I was even matside for the 2021 Big Tens that was closed to the public with only limited parent tix but the in the Starocci/Brooks years I just didn't feel as compelled to make it every time or even most times.

I had a career in college athletics, worked at a variety of institutions but now that I'm out of that industry I'm taking the time to just be a fan of the sport (I set a goal of seeing a match or tourney at every D1 school - currently at 24, will be at at least 28 by the seasons end) and placing my fandom back where it was in my youth (Oregon St).

I'll also add having a seat at the head table of the Oly Trials was an incredible personal and professional milestone for me - was at the BJC from like 4 am to midnight for 5 days in a row but a reserve seat at the head table to post up and work from/watch was many things but in short - really friggin cool

This being a general college wrestling forum, a first post under that title should have included general info about the tournament, such as this https://www.flowrestling.org/articles/15067385-all-wrestlers-registered-to-compete-at-the-2026-southern-scuffle

You might have gone into your psu fanboying after that.

This is not a PSU forum. Please try to remember.

Briefly back to the topic of the thread: I'm very disappointed. I'd hoped to see more starters from top ranked schools like OSU and PSU. Yeah, we get to see Josh Barr shake off some rust, I suppose.

Back to the general bitching, I remember when some of the guys bitching about PSU fans today were getting bitched about by OSU fans. Back in the 70s and 80s the Oklahoma State fans were saying the exact same thing about Hawkeyes fans as Hawkeye fans are saying about PSU today. How about this as a compromise: we can all just enjoy what Cael is putting on the mat without being karens about it? Cael isn't overbearing about it, unlike other coaches I can think of in the past in various sports. Good God can you imagine Tom Brands if he'd won as many as Cael? I wonder if he'd be less crazy...or even crazier.

From the pattern I have to wonder who PSU fans will be bitching about when they are no longer #1?

Very interesting. I've noticed some weights have more than 1 entrant. How do they determine which to use for team score?  Are all those guys confirmed entrants? If so, PSU's 2nd team will probably win the tournament.
