  1. which college came away with the most #1s? I know Cornell had 2. Guessing OK St and Va Tech had a few.
  2. I've seen some talk about Cornell having Joy moving up to '57 with Benny Rogers filling in at 49? Thought?
  3. Correa
  4. Why least likeable? He wrestled up 2 weight classes in HS in search of competition. He lost in the NCAA semifinals on a controversial call and never complained. He goes out and goes...That's it. What more do you want?
  5. Correct on Cornella. He only has 1/2 year of eligibility according to Ivy rules.
  6. Why is Cornell's sudden demise even a topic. They have finished in the top 10 at nationals every year but last for the last 14 years, including a 2nd and a 3rd in '24 and '23. For those of you who suggest the cupboard is bare this year's incoming freshman class sees three #1 ranked wrestlers (Cortez, Cortez, and Correa) a 3 ( Perentin), 2 5s (Jeter and Dellagatta) and a 2 10s ( Verrette and Diakomihalis) entering this year . (Whether or not Verrette Jeter enter as Freshman or elect to greyshirt does not diminish the fact that they are coming. Frankly, when looking at Cornell wrestllng, you'd need to be wearing blinders to not see anything less than a top 10 program
  7. When do the rest come out?
  8. It seems most on this thread already have Cortez penciled in at '33 for Cornell. I believe they already have a pretty ggod starter there who may prove to be a problem
  9. Cornella over Hardy, then Vega
  10. Ever? Maybe. This year? No. Too many horses that are too strong for him. When he goes into his incredible scrambles one of them is sure to lock onto a leg and prevent his finishing his move. If he wants to win a Natty, his best bet might be to switch spots with Joy and try his luck at '49 next year.
  11. Some have congratulated the referee for not "deciding the match" by calling the stall that would have DQ'ed Cates. However, in not calling the stall he decided that NC St would win.
  12. Add in the fact that their best HWT and '97 lb'er are greyshirting ( voluntarily or mandated?) and it begins to make a bit more sense
  13. It seems that V Cornella is getting slighted a bit here. He spent the first half of the year wrestling unattached for the SpartanRTC. While there he wrestled 7 times all against D1 wrestlers and went 7 - 0, with 1 pin, three tech falls, and I MD. So while these will not count on his official record, it bears noting that this year he is 14-0 in matches he wrestled. Not too shabby.
  14. Owen Rector said: "141 CJ Composto and Aaron Nagao both somewhat untested. Interested in if they can beat Ryan Jack. Vince Cornella is also going to have a chance to make a splash since he only wrestled 2 matches." Actually, Cornella has wrestled 10 matches, although 8 were while unregistered at Cornell under the Spartan Wrestling group. There he posted 7 wins by tech fall or pin with his only match to go the distance being a 10-4 decision of #18 Tom Crook
  15. Well then 3 of their "non-starters" are ranked 2nd, 1st and 1st. If you're right, that's a deep team.
  16. Maybe I'm crazy but on the VT schedule listed on the website it shows then going to the Southern Scuffle and not attending the Midlands. Was there a change or do I just need a refresher in reading?
  17. Can Cornell have him enroll for the 2snd semester and pull his grayshirt just like other schools pull redshirts?
  18. I agree that Joy is probably going to be too much for Fernandez. However I also believe that, other than Cornella, he would easily handle Saunders and Bouyssou. It may be in his best interest to certify at '41 in case of a not too unlikely injury occurring to Cornella
