Seems like I remember Cael going to or not going to certain events since he landed at PSU. He stopped going to the Midlands in lieu of the Southern Scuffle. I am not sure if they still go to that or not. My point is, Cael has always scheduled his season a little differently.

It does make me wonder that if they HADN'T been so successful if he would have scheduled like a lot of the other D1 programs do? Or would he have stuck with his current plan?

Maybe now is the time that we should shift to a 1 semester sport and start on Jan 2nd. John Smith proposed this exact idea back in the '90's & it made a lot of sense. Just sayin.....

There seems to be two widely embodied forms of PSDS: 

Penn State Derangement Syndrome and Penn State Devotion Syndrome.  

The second claims the first is conspiratorial (Carl countenances drugs, big bucks, and recruitment violations) and the first claims the second is religious and cultish ("In Cael we trust")

The first says their mascot is a Duck (of dual competition).  The second says the mascot is a Lion (the best competition is in their own room).

The second says PSU wrestling is all about joy and having fun.   The first says PSU is bad for the sport.

The first wants PSU to suffer miserably and lose.  The second enjoys watching other teams lose all hope.

I think I’d like a 1 semester (Spring) season. Get away from football a bit more and away from basketball…at the end atleast. Avoid Thanksgiving and Christmas, semester break, etc. I’ve never liked sharing Thursday thru Sat with the start of NCAA basketball, I’m not sure how many more eyeballs it gets wrestling but selfishly I can watch both if they’re 4-6 wks apart.

Meanwhile... the Ilini's NCAA defending champ Byrd was in a 1-1 nail biter w/ Big Red's Ungar (1st match back?) ... until it wasn't. 

Byrd won 7-1 w/ a bunch of points coming at the end.

To be fair, Penn State’s been trying to schedule Northeastern State, Central Oklahoma, and Southwestern Oklahoma but they’re not returning Sanderson’s calls.

he speaks off the cuff which makes it feel more comfortable.  he doesn't analyze what he's saying before he says it.  he also comes off as a salt of the earth guy, slightly goofy, that knows the sport pretty well.

Byrd seems a little off today.  Ziegler looks up for it as well (had a good takedown attempt in the first, got to the leg, but just couldn't finish it)

Does Flo own Wrestlstat now?  The both have Lehigh instead of Cornell on their live scoring all day.  Right now Iowa State is wrestling Lehigh on Mat 2 and Ohio State on Mat 1. So obv.  no score on Mat 2.

Flo is known for acquiring horrible companies and changing absolutely nothing about them.
