Penn state is the Brandon hs of college wrestling. They only have this dual meet record because they actively dodge competition. I’m not saying they’re not clearly the number 1 team in the country,  but when you. Having the minimum number of duals each year doesn’t exactly scream the greatest of all time

What screams greatest of all time is watching them wrestle and knowing it will bring joy.

Well, maybe not to the fans of the vanquished.

Seems fair.  Barr wasn't ranked before today because he hadn't wrestled a match until today.

Same for Penn State - they ducked the national duals so we can only speculate about how they would perform against those teams.  I'm happy giving the benefit of the doubt to the teams that are willing to step on the mat.

Instead of doing national duels that went to world championships versus every top team in world not just in the USA

Is that freestyle (different sport) or folkstyle?

and did the entire team go or just those who qualified?

I hear that if a team should match Penn State's 2-0 record in this event by winning twice tomorrow, the organizers will award a "Collegiate Duals Championship" to whichever squad has the largest differential in team points.

Penn State sits at 86-0 after today.

Good luck to the teams competing tomorrow.

Only 7 out 10 made it. How many other teams you think would bring 70% of their team back from worlds and go straight to a national duel that really means nothing to them. Oh weight how many are good enough to send 70% of team to worlds? Answer is zero

But guess you are correct would have ben better for their wrestlers to go straight from freestyle worlds to folkstyle duel with out letting them get healed up and use to folkstyle again before what matters starts

We all get they skipped duals for a reason. This isn't news...

The big difference here is PSU actually is the best team in the country.. where as Brandon never was.. not even close. They also see the best teams in regular season duals..

Cael said in a interview 2 weeks ago that Desmond is big and will never make 125 again

A couple days ago he didn’t remember saying that and now said he could do it but it’s hard.

Brandon is the FLORIDA HS, right? I saw a youtube video that proclaimed it as having the greatest HS team of all time, which brought a long, sustained guffaw from me. I doubt any of the guys off that team would make the 2 deep at any top 10 Oklahoma High schools over that same time span. I wonder how many guys in that same span of time would've even made the team at a place like Wyoming Seminary, Blair, or even powerhouse Okie teams from back in the day like Midwest City or Perry? To me the article seemed like it was intended for shock, not for honest consumption of facts.

15-0 last year with wins over Iowa, Ohio State and Michigan.

I don't need to waste my time showing you how dumb your post is because I think you already know. They are in the Big 10 and have a brutal dual schedule every single year as a result.

Instead of being a jealous baby, you should just enjoy the greatness we are seeing. It doesn't come around but once every 100 years. Winning. 12 of the last 14 NCAA titles and still getting better is insane. Are you just mad they didn't want bassett?

Yea they would self proclaim they were the best in the country, but no one actually believe it. They "offered" to face anyone to challenge them for the streak, but the caveat was it had to be in their gym and remmeber in the 2000's high school teams were not traveling that far. I dont remember exactly when but i believe Easton tried to face them and a dual tournament called the Final Four or something like that but the a Brandon coach pulled a Tom Brands and rigged the bracket so there was no way for them to cross paths.

They had this 171lber named David Craig who was a monster in high school. Legitimately ranked number 1 in the country.  Beat Mike Letts of Maryland at the Dapper Dan Allstar match. Went to Lehigh and had a pretty mediocre career. Publicly announced he didn't like wrestling, but did it because he was good at it and it got him a college scholarship.
