There are some interesting updates on the identity of the shooter. Lots of conflicting information but it likely appears he was a Afghan national. He cried out the go to Allahu Akbar.

He’s a former CIA operative in Afghanistan, part of a “zero unit.” These units have been credibly accused of being death squads. They conducted off the book “missions” on behalf of the US Military. Organized by the CIA.

There was a report that many of the Guardsmen were policemen in their civilian life, and most of those in D.C. volunteered for the duty.  The deceased Guardsman had volunteered so that others who had more family could stay home with them for the holidays. It only makes sense that so many NG are Military Police MOS, as that closely follows their duties when they are called up, and then to be in law enforcement in their regular job continues the theme.
