They’re easing his transition into the college folk style season. Probably Army Black Knight Invitational will be his first action. Rumor he didn’t make weight was floating around but doesn’t appear to be true. Either way, embarrassment of riches. Trot out the 3rd stringer and roll to a TF.

At 157 vs Oklahoma there was no Duke and no Kasak.

Instead they trotted out the bigger version of Braeden Davis.

What gives?

Did they need em?

I had not heard he missed weight until porta reported it but now interested where you are hearing it is not true. Only reason I ask is because I had speculated that I thought giving him body time to get heavier after u23's may actually make 157 far less possible for him despite holding down 70kg for half a year.

He's getting his weight in check.  That's true.  He'll be at the Black Knight Invitational

PJ pulled a duck because he was going to get teched because wrestlestat said so.

That's it!   🤣

Wait, if he didn't wrestle last night, won't he be in the same situation for his next match?

Well, you can expect some ducking from Wrestlestat's 3rd ranked dual team.

I would pay a decent amount of money to see him and kasak but I assume Kasak will forfeit if they both hit in the finals since hes shirting.

A lady doesn’t kiss and tell…

I’m not a lady…anyway, my sources say that rumor on X isn’t true. And that’s it’s purely transitioning him into college life, college wrestling, folk style after all the summer freestyle work. 🤷‍♂️

The cynic in me says well what about Blaze then? Why Duke but not Blaze. So who knows? Maybe it’s weight, maybe it’s just the descent plan, maybe it’s college life, maybe it’s free style to folk after a super busy summer and early fall internationally.

He misses anything else or much else, I’ll worry. As of now, hard to not trust Cael, he seems to have this winning at wrestling thing pretty well figured out.

Black Knight is NOT an Open tournament, so competing in it will burn a redshirt ( unless you're a true freshman) Kasak and Davis WILL NOT be competing there unless they burn their redshirt.

There's the Black Knight Open and the Black Knight Invite on consecutive November weekends; do they both operate with the same rules?

He Wrestled the U20, U23 and the Sr World Championships...

He traveled and put in a bit more time than Blaze.

Plus, wasn't Sealey a U20 World Champ? How many guys have a Sealey as their #3/#4?

I mean, technically he's their #2 with Ty Watson as their #3 since PJ Duke is ranked like 227th, but I have him in the top 40 at least, maybe top 30. I have a feeling he's going to out-perform that 227 ranking.

People's perspective on Joe Sealey is tainted by a couple of matches last year. I know the guy he wrestled from Oklahoma wasn't a top ten guy, but if anyone were to just watch "how" Sealey went after it they'd maybe think the needle got moved for his wrestling. If he were Penn State's starter this year he'd beat a lot of guys.

Maybe. He was expected to be a stud right out of the gate. If he went to a... hell, I don't know, a school that develops Wrestlers, he could still be a kid who I think would be top 5. It doesn't help when you have the likely #1 and #2 in your own room. But... whatever.

Put him in good program and I think he'd be fine.

You just implied that Penn State doesn't develop wrestlers. Hard to take this seriously.

No, I didn't. You Penn State folks(a couple of you) are so hyper sensitive these days that you read into everything.

I'm SAYING he's behind TWO Wrestlers who'd be favorites for an NCAA Title and if he went to another school... and I was going to say a Cornell type school but I deleted that because I didn't want to argue about a hypothetical or about how Shapiro is at '57, but if he went somewhere else, a school that develops Wrestlers(Nebraska was my next guess, but... then they've got a solid '57 as well, don't they), I think he'd do well.

So... whine about how you read my inferences despite EVERYTHING I've said about PSU. Just said I think they'll have 6 champs and 2 others with a chance... but you didn't choose to be offended about that... did you? I'm guessing you could "take me seriously"

Funny you omit this part.

Do you believe I think Duke is the 227th best Wrestler?

Or... were you able to overlook the "inference" I was making that there were 226 better Wrestlers than him?

Duke made 70kg which is 154; he’s a professional and I’d be surprised if he didn’t make weight. The dude was on three world teams and deserves some recovery time before a grinder of college wrestling.

Many, many people are saying he didn't make weight.  Many people close to the program.

Alright, I believe it then. Still surprised though!  I wonder if that means they do a light pitch count or the use some of his 5 dates and then make a final decision
