I see WrestleStat has Marcus Blaze slated as the starter for Penn State at 133 lbs.  I don't see how that's possible seeing as Blaze competed at 150 lbs last season as a H.S.Senior.   That would more than a 10 percent drop in his body weight.

He is our U20 61 KG guy.  Legit just won a world title.

So he is closer to 133lbs than 150lbs right now.  Much closer.

By season's start?  Let's say 684.5?  The guy who knows lifts in me wants to say under.  The guy who knows he is 30lbs heavier and considerably more powerful just because of that wants to say over.

If AJ is not pulling 705 by the time he (finally) graduates, that will be a bigger disappointment than him never winning another title.

All jokes aside though, Braxton at 285 strikes some interest in me.  After so much high school hype, he has not really panned out at the college level.  I feel like this is the "make it or break it" season for him now.

Tagen Jamison and Cael Hughes potentially up a weight

Agreed. Both were too big for their weights last year. But both have great competition at their new weight. It's possible both OR neither are the starter.

Ah, yes, a kid who walks around at 138lbs cannot possibly wrestle at 133 for Penn State.

he weighed in at 63.9kg (140.58) for trials at 65kg (143) and said in an interview he ate breakfast before weigh ins so I would guess at most he is waking up at 140lbs right now walking around.

Ferrari will win a number of matches but won't be on top at the end of the year.

Who is beating Focus this year? Kueter will barely be getting back into form by March rather than peaking. Mirasola is unlikely since he can't win by pushouts in folk and is very unlikely to get through Focus's stingy defense, Trumble has gone down since his Final X breakthrough, he will ride Feldman like a mule, and Bastida isn't the same he's got too many miles.

No one likes this outcome but it feels inevitable unless Kueter and/or Mirasola takes a huge leap. Feldman was progressing very well but seemed to have been figured out by the end of last season and I just can't see him finishing his shots. You think Focus did a good job of riding everyone at 197 NCAAs? He's going to look ridiculous on a full feed.

You must be forgetting about the Minnow army that will glaze AJ to the ends of the Earth when it happens.

Ferrari will be a light hwt. but so are all the guy's you've listed. Are there any big returning Hwt's - guys the size of Steveson or Hendrickson - who will be competitive?

Nathan Taylor is probably the largest guy in the field that's potential podium caliber. After that I would say the next biggest is Luffman.

Is Minto moving up?

Minto looked like he was dying a thousand deaths in the NCAA semis.

Also, WrestleStat has him at 174 for the season. They are usually pretty up to date on stuff like this.

I have a little inside info on this. Blaze will start at 133lbs for PSU and Davis will start at 141lbs for PSU. I don't normally get inside info, but I did this time. You're welcome.

An insider told me this past weekend while tailgating for the PSU/Oregon game, amongst some other inside stuff. I had only ever read these rumors online, but this guy told me to my face.

I feel like Nagao could still be in the fight for 141, unless he got hurt. Seems naturally bigger than Davis to "grow into" 141.

Not a huge name, but interested to see how well LJ Araujo handles the cut to 165.

He will be soon enough.  Dude is legit
