Excited to see if Hamiti can keep the ball rolling. I really love how he wrestles for Freestyle. He will never be a olympic guy unless he can handle the cut to 74kg but I think he could be a great 79.

Why can't he try to grow in to 86 KG like his coach?

He certainly could I am not sure he had the width in his frame that David had. He is going to be sandwiched between Lockett and Zahid in 2028 so he should have a good idea where he stacks up best.

What I think happens, and this is my prediction, not what I want to happen, is that he does make that drop back down.  O'Toole, Haines, and Hamiti are all likely going back down - especially with Zahid, Dake, Starocci, PK all up at 86 KG for this cycle.

O'Toole, I definitely want back down.  Hamiti I want to go up.  Haines?  I don't know about him, yet.

Wick?  I wish he'd have gone through with his transfer to Croatia (although it appears his brother might yet do it).

is vito healthy enough to be competing?

Leads me to believe that what we saw in Fargo was less effect of whatever the injury was still being there, and more effect of not enough time to fully train after recovering from the injury.  How he looks in Poland should go a long way to answer that.

Whatever it was, he wasn't 100%.

I selfishly hope most of them go up. I want keegan at 74 if he can because I think he can win gold at his best but we are going to have someone that can medal at 74 no matter what. If zahid cant stay at this level for 2 more years we may be considerably weaker with depth at 86.

I know Haines grew in to 174lbs well enough to contend at NCAAs, I don't know if he has the frame to go 86 KG.

That said, I welcome being proven wrong.  I don't know if Starocci will stick around for the cycle and there isn't anyone else that is going to go 86 KG for the NLWC (MAYBE Mirasola/Barr?)...

Actually... Henkle (sp) will likely be there, as will Cunningham, but they won't be ready by then (??).

If Henckle medals at Junior worlds this year then I would say he is in the mix for 2028. There are 2-3 legit senior level guys at his weight. Ferrari and Mcnelly will probably still be 86's by then as well although I have not seen Angelo wrestle freestyle in like 4 years.

Don’t sleep on Max McEnelly at 86 too.  I think he has a really high ceiling and a lot of potential for growth over the next few years.

Well, I forgot about Welsh (like an idiot) as well as Ryder over at OSU.

Henckel (wow, we both messed that spelling up 🤣), should be good at 86 KG as well.

Not even close.  It did seem more gassed than anything.  He was able to fire off some explosion, especially at the beginning of the first match, but couldn't maintain.  Biggest thing I noticed were his hands were not nearly as active throughout as they usually are.

I think it was more of the injury limiting training or making him skeptical about training. He was posting him doing training lab stuff leading in but I wonder if they were not letting him wrestle when he got tired to try and avoid injury. I think you can do all the running/versa climber/bike in the world but if you arent blowing your lungs out wrestling I just don't think you can be in peak wrestling shape.

Can you get a takedown or exposure on a grounded opponent?
