It doesn't really matter assuming they wrestle each other this weekend but how does Intermat explain this given that All-Star match results aren't supposed to influence rankings?

The All-Star Match doesn't influence seedings. Media outlets are well within their rights to pick and choose what events they consider or how they consider things like injury defaults, etc. The only place they officially aren't supposed to influence a ranking would be the NCAA coaches ranking. And yes, I'm taking the bait.

Right, so Cass is 16-0 this season, and 3-0 lifetime vs Kerk.  Kerk is 8-1 and 0-3 lifetime vs Cass.  So why is Kerk #2 and Cass #3?

Ok, so your implication is that media outlets are taking into account the all-star match between Kerk and Cass.  Got it.

Media outlets can do what they want-- yes. But it does not answer the question of why Intermat (which is who we are talking about, right?) put Kerk ahead of Cass. I don't think their ranking is crazy as Kerk was ahead of Cass before his loss to Parris and Kerk has not lost to Cass this year.  But if I was ranking, I'd put Cass #2 as he is undefeated and has a lot more wins.

Very simple..Kerk finished ahead of Cass at last years NCAA's..that was the starting point for this year's rankings..Kerk 1, Parris 2 Cass 3.  Kerk lost to Parris and they flip flop.  It will all be settled Friday anyway..not sure if you were trolling with this post but if not, at least you now know how this happened

I know the answer to this one!  Kerk WAS # 1, and Parris WAS #2 so when Parris beats Kerk 3-1 they switch places.

The  arguments being made that CASS should be ahead of Kerk are not really changed by Kerk losing to Parris.  If CASS should have been ranked ahead of Kerk why didn’t anyone complain before this week?

your hypothesis uses logic and reason...both of which have no place on this board.

There are FCC regulations on TV and radio stations.  I don't recall any that pertain to college wrestling rankings though.  I know there used to be government regulations on newspapers.  I would assume there are also government regulations of some sort on internet media.  I kind of doubt any of those involve college wrestling rankings either.

The reason independent ranking services can do what they want is in a set of recently leaked classified documents.  Unfortunately we will never know the reason outlined in those documents.

them’s the breaks.

I'm afraid to look in my basement closets. There could be some classified documents down there.
