Would be hilarious to see them meet again all the way up at 97 since the weight might be a bit more open than it was 48 hours ago

Ug, I hadn't seen that.   That is really shocking news.   I'm not sure how this keeps him from wrestling, but no one is above the law.   He may be tangled up in legal issues and can't go.  I can't imagine his wife is any too happy with this.   They may consider him a flight risk going overseas for Worlds.    Wow, just wow.

Yea he could have travel issues and could also have ineligibility issues from safesport that don't let him compete under USA wrestling

Someone mentioned in the megathread that Snyder would likely be charged with a 3rd degree misdemeanor rather than a felony for his first offense, unless there's an aggravating factor. The temporary suspension by SafeSport is standard procedure while they investigate the matter and consider the seriousness of the offense.

Engaging in the solicitation of prostitution is a SafeSport Code violation, but they will determine its severity and whether Snyder's continued participation in wrestling would be a safety risk or harmful to others in the sport or USAW's stakeholders. He seems to have a pretty clean record and appears to be cooperating and taking accountability, so I would bet that he gets a written warning and probation from SafeSport. No idea if USAW would impose its own sanctions.

I'm not really familiar with SafeSport. What does his situation have to do with safety?

I believe they investigate and track all charges and allegations of abuse or misconduct for athletes under its jurisdiction. If the misconduct involves physical abuse, trafficking, minors, substance abuse, or a pattern of behavior (or something else) that puts the safety of the sport or its participants at risk, SafeSport can suspend or revoke an athlete from competing or representing the US Olympic Team, National Governing Body, or local affiliates

Some of the guys at 86/92 KG should consider going 97 KG.

I really gotta call shenanigans, snyder gets flagged but nothing happened against Park Merry(intentional misspelling), wtf…

First, how does this in anyway relate to his competing as an athlete? He wasn’t paying another athlete…

Do athletes get immediately flagged when they break other laws? No, that doesn’t happen…

Either this is a much bigger can of worms here, or I am left to call capricious shenanigans on safesport.

Great question, no idea, did it?

I was (potentially incorrectly) under the assumption that sweeping that under the rug was what killed ASU funding by driving away their biggest donor.

Those in the know, if I am spouting horsesh*t, please correct me.
