The pressure got to be too much for him. What a wuss. And the guy's credibility just continues to go down the drain. Constantly changing his mind, going back and forth like the wind. How can anybody respect this piece of garbage?

Dude...this is an objectively good thing.

We're STILL hitting China...who just stole IP from META and this could stop a recession that hurts people.

He's a clown...but he's a clown who just did the right thing.

Well, temporarily he did. Lot of damage already done, including to whatever credibility he had left. He also escalated a trade war w/ China that's still escalating. He should have taken a more careful approach to that too.

Yeah...FOOK China. They HAVE it coming. They are corrupt, manipulate currency, steal intellectual property, corporate espionage.

WE NEEDED to crack down on China. I'm good with that...with all due respect, this is a good thing. When he did this, it was hurting people. It still caused damage and we'll see how that comes back, but...this was GOOD.

I will bet we come out of this with trade deals and a LOT more barrels pointing at China(who we do still need). And we both said, it was stupid to go after China and THE WORLD at once time, right?

So...this was good.

Sure...it's...kinda like the guy robbing the bank, taking people hostage and then giving himself up, BUT...that last act was great!

And we could, as I said, come out of this, let cooler heads prevail and get a better deal with China or build our own alliance with China. We did need to crack down on them.

This is a huge relief though.

Ok....but why should I trust this is going to stay in place?  That the moment something annoys him he doesn't reinstitute all the tariffs?  Double them?  Scott Bessent was just on TV explaining that they're still going to tariff pharmaceuticals and lumber

Exactly my point.  The markets respond positively to stability, they respond poorly to volatility and uncertainty.

Master stroke or buffoonery?    75 countries have asked for negotiations.   So tariffs come off.   75 countries coming to the table is really good  news.   Isn't that what Trump said in the first place was what he wanted?

Will the cut in tariffs happen for 90 days?   I don't know.   But the signal is that Trump will negotiate to drive tariffs down on all sides.

Yah; that's what I was going to say. This guy is repeatedly all over the place and has zero credibility now, internationally. Nobody believes he's going to stick to any decision anyway.

Yeah, that's why 75 countries are begging to negotiate, because Trump has zero credibility.   Do you realize what you are saying?   I don't think so.   He is getting what he stated he wanted on the campaign trail.   It will be good news for the US.   Sorry you are not thinking of that.  But that's ok.   Most middle of the road guys like you hate America.  No wait!  You are 100% a leftist whackadoo winger.   That is the scientific term by the way.

No, he said he wanted Tariffs to be permanent. He long held this belief that tariffs were the way to pay down the debt.

This was a good thing he did today. This wasn't a brilliant masterstroke that he thought out.

The 10 year yield, I think the MAIN reason he's doing this now was UP 70 basis points. So that's 70B more we pay the next 10 years because of this(if that would have held)...and it was too risk to get...nothing out of it BUT less losses than we anticipated.

I appreciate he recognized it was a failure and we were headed toward a recession, but he said dozens of times the tariffs wlil make us so rich, and then people started to say "he's actually been saying this since the 1970s, we should go back to tariffs," even once floating eliminating the income tax.

Also, we do still have tariffs that don't make sense in place. So I think it was...at BEST him admitting it wasn't working and using the other countries offers as a talking point.
