Not trying to be a dick on the wrestling page, but it only takes a little effort to read themat.com and other sites.  Why depend on someone else to gain your knowledge for you?  The list of PSU athletes wrestling in the age group and senior trials is neither short, nor hard to find.

That said, PSU isn't the only school with kids trying to make teams....they just have more with legitimate shots.

I think I’ve seen in years past psu wrestlers not competing early because of wtt or ott.  And then not a ton of them showing up.   Forgot which ones. That’s why I asked.  Who.  And are they starters.   Etc.

Tis.  But I do remember.  Psu people saying they don’t compete early because of ott/wtt and then a ton of them not showing up.   Sounds familiar/similar here.  I’m not looking it up.  I called out the psu fans then. They didn’t care then.  They won’t care now.  Tis how they roll.

as I said earlier.  Psu fans are bad for the sport.

There’s 14 teams there, thought only teams placing 13-24 were in the lottery

There was a 3 way tie at NCAAs for 24th place. They have included all 3 teams in the lotto making the total 14 rather than 12.

Too bad Rutgers won't get an invite but was Ranked #11 as a dual meet team and would beat all of those teams in the lottery...Bad NCAA Tournament cost them invite

Rutgers 2025/2026 will even be better with additions

Agreed. Iowa State as well. They will tweak it in the future and hopefully will base it off duals rather than the tournament. It's going to be an amazing event but yeah it's a bummer that some great teams are having to miss out

Curious does the prize Money go to the school participating or to all the athletes making up the team ?

It's the school's, but they can give it to their guys or use it how they see fit

Interesting , feel like giving it to the athletes would contribute to the popularity of the event even more

among every demographic , Fans, Parents, Athletes, Casuals etc

Guessing all the schools do this .

They placed 36th at NCAAs, kinda did it to themselves….. as said above, I’m sure they’ll tweak the rules in the future

Broadcast for the event: Willie said on Baschamania that Flo will have the semis and ESPN will have the finals.

I assume Flo will have the earlier rounds as well, but he didn't say.

Over under on the # of psu fans mocking this event when it goes down because psu is not competing.  I think the over/under is a zillion and I’ll take the over.

....and how do you feel about Iowa fans? Good for the sport!

LOL...what a ridiculous take. The very region where the best Wrestlers in the Countries come from and have come for...how long, and they're now not "good for the sport?"

So a team with one super good wrestler, just one, with others being below average for d1, would have a high chance of getting to national duals.

Seems like something needs to change on qualification.  Something that promotes team strength.  Dual strength.  Vs having an outlier or two.

Still want to foster objectivity though.  So metric based would be good.  They use metrics to help ID the NCAA individual championship field.  Perhaps could use similar metrics to evaluate a full team.  Use that to help determine entrants.

Best fans in wrestling yes.    Where the best come from has no bearing on if their fans are good or not.

have you met an eagles fan?   These fans are psu fans too lol.

This year, yeah. There's a large overlap in best dual teams and best NCAA teams, so the field is still awesome fortunately, but I agree selections should emphasize dual strength. This is just year one and based on what Willie has said, they will tweak the process in the future

Only PSU declined. I think VaTech is finishing paperwork or something, but Willie said they're in. The final five spots will go to teams that finished 13-24.

3 teams tied for 24th.

We don't have another "sign off" problem do we?

For those of you who are thinking of attending this wonderful dual event, book your rooms now!

That could be the same time as Tulsa Nationals and those hotel rooms will be gobbled up fast.

The city of Tulsa does a great job of having more than 1 big event in their city at the same time.  Just some unsolicited advice at no charge.

Sooo... does that mean if the ref makes a call that the nit fans don't like

do they start chucking "snowballs" (packed w/ batteries) at him?!?

(What the heck... nevermind the snowballs... what about the batteries? That's gotta hurt!)

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

If they were wrestling out doors I wouldn’t put it past them.

I think most years the best tournament teams will be the best dual team with a few exceptions every year.   I don't mind the idea of rewarding the top 12 with an auto invite but maybe the next 4 can be more like Wild Cards that are selected based on dual performance (Rutgers) or projected lineups the next season (Lehigh or ISU).

That's where I'm at. Have the first 10 or 12 teams auto-qualify based on last year's dual season. Then hand pick the rest of the field with a best-guess lineup projection. But no matter what system you use, you'll miss out on a couple great teams at the margins and you just have to accept it.
