If people are implicating Haines and Kasak, then absolutely. What else do I need to fit in with this mob behavior? Here’s my discussion board investigative motives to match the dermatologists: aging in the college scene, broken down and injured, enhanced vascularity, and someone who’s broken other rules very recently. That’s a better of list of causes than Tyler Kasak’s face and Levi Haines moving up two weights. Maybe Warner and Marinelli can retweet that.

Not to the press - to the authorities.  If the authorities don't care, then its not a rule.  Rumor mills don't need to be part of it.

If NCAA is not testing, that means its not a rule.  If people want it to be enforced, push for policy change.

For all you PSU people crying foul about how low it was of Shapiro and he's a hater, your boy Bo Nickal went on the biggest podcast in the world (JRE) and said the reason he lost to the Iranian is cuz the guy was juiced to the gills. Said it was obvious. What evidence did he have other than he felt his strength and looked at him?

Same thing here. And it's obvious our wrestlers are using too, if we can go head to head with nations that are obviously doping like Russia. To believe our guys can compete with roid raging Russians just cuz we like our steaks is naive and asinine. Lemme get some of Mr Kasak's home grown beef, doubt it drastically changes my hormone profiles like it did for Kasak and Barr.

Myself & @Le duke are the only PSU fans that I know of defending Kasak.  And don't want to speak for him but I've been on the board long enough with Le Duke to hypothesize that he like myself disagree with what Nickal did.

Years ago  I was in a battle royale with fellow PSU fans defending Nelson Brands from accusations that he purposely bit Aaron Brooks.  Some of us find baseless accusations insulting

Aaaah.  So it’s not a rule now?    What are we arguing about then lol.    The fact the ncaa doesn’t care / test means it isn’t a rule.  Now that’s maybe the biggest nonsense in the thread boss.

Let's put it this way - to think that you as a fan should be the enforcement mechanism is as pathetic and delusional as it gets.

That's kinda the point of the entire thread. The NCAA does not police this in any meaningful way. My kid's wrestled thru HS and college and been tested zero times.

The lack of policing is what causes this type of speculation. The "eyeball test" is not perfect, but it's not nothing and it's all we have right now.

And this is not a PSU thing; this is an NCAA-wide issue.

honestly no idea what you're talking about. I thought in the closing seconds of the match he was trying to get a turn for a major. Lovett grabbed his fingers, Shapiro got a little aggressive with the armbar, Lovett pushed him in the face as time expired, Shapiro explained himself to the corner, Lovett came at him, pissed off, but he and Shapiro talked it out, shook hands and moved on. Flash of emotion by both guys, mature reconciliation by both guys.

I thought he was implying that they kept testing his kid so none of the full-time starters were at risk.

I don't think Shapiro was accusing Kasak, though I do think he was generally implying that some people/programs are cutting with the help of steroids. Also implying that he'd need the boost to go 165 or to go down to 149 without sapping his own strength. He prefers to wrestle without the deep cut that is standard in wrestling, which is good for his long term health. Better for his long term health than repeatedly landing on his head, at least.

This interview was after the Kasak match right?  If so, I do think he was accusing Kasak, but he has plausible deniability.

So what exactly is the enforcement mechanism if the ncaa isn’t testing athletes?

Leave it to the opposing teams to bring these issue to the table.  There is no value in me or you speculating about who we think should be inspected based on visual evidence.  And maybe if the NCAA doesn't care, then that means it isn't technically illegal.  Push for reform or something.  But don't throw people's names into the pile for consideration because they are successful and have bad acne.  It's cruel.

Upon further reflection, I regret my contributions to this thread. I think some discussion about PED use in collegiate sport needs to be had but I think my approach, and the general tenor that this thread has taken, was not the move.

There is a lot of negativity in our sport (I think a growing trend), a sport filled with great people that should be celebrated, rather than torn down (best leave that to clowns like Rasslin2). I'm ashamed that, as time goes on, I've contributed to the negativity more and more. That's not something I used to do and not something I want to continue. College aged me would have kicked my ass for some of the things I've written.

Hate to spoil the witch hunt but I recall several wrestlers (Kyle Dake was one) specifically ending post match interviews because they had to go take a drug test. So the idea that the NCAA doesn’t do any testing is absolutely false.

it had to be after the zerban match, since he already knew he was in 5th. it wasn't in response to anything about any of his matches at all. he said it in the closing minutes of a 15 minute post-tournament interview that included discussion of his hospitalization and recovery when he was asked about his future weight class.
