There are some posters on this board who sure don’t like Starocci, Steveson, JB, DC, and Rock in the commentary booth with comments calling them “narcissists” and suggesting they lack humility among other things as they keep go on and on about a “blue room”  and wanting “good role models for children” while cheering on a literal 34-time convicted felon and assailant found liable as he interrupted the first, and possibly only, five-time NCAA Division I Champion’s interview in history. It’s even more ironic that he shows up to a school event while trying to dismantle the Department of Education. It’s less of criticism and more of an observation. These guys who’ve done great things for the sport and are great ambassadors of it are judged harshly yet a literal felon and civilly liable assailant is being cheered in a room where wrestlers who fit a certain image are praised as “heroes.” Why is that?

Oh...please, lets not go down this road.

I don't love the last person you mentioned, but I've seen no correlation between the prior.

I have not noticed a 'set' of opinions with Burroughs, Starocci, Stevenson, DC and Rock. I like some, others less.

Please just hide this or keep it to the other sub.

There are people who think Starocci is a boring Wrestler and they ALL hate Ferrari. There are some who think JB is obnoxious and are big Starocci fans. You're just finding black athletes who people have critiqued, doing the Trump/internet thing where you infer it's the SAME people who don't like Burroughs becuse he said he'd go after Starocci's knee(which is because they are PSU fans who love Starocci).

The takes are FAR more nuanced than this, this was an awesome night of Wrestling. Lets...end the Trump stuff here, killed the racist stuff or at least move it to off-topic.

Nuance in the public square?  I thought that wasn't allowed?  What are you doing trying to unpack the merits of these issues?  Please call back under your cozy rock.

The blue room is a reference to the abundance of those who swing your way. Your commentary is exactly my point. A forum ruled by vehement anti-Christian individuals who publicly denounce any wrestler referencing the Lord in their success. A forum ruled by individuals who clearly dislike the right and make it known when there should zero politics discussed in a college wrestling forum, especially this one. A forum who enjoy eating their own like many do to Jimmy Cinnabon, a knowledgeable wrestling fan who thinks out of the box and is constantly picked on and labeled a troll for being objective. This is why the blue room is applicable to a bunch of no-bodies who most likely lack love in their miserable lonely lives - men who probably failed in wrestling, their marriages and being good role models to their own offspring. How else could someone justify being in here 24/7 when that time could and should be better spent with family and or helping others. This explains the bitterness and resistance to encouraging new blood to join the team so a more diverse group of wrestling-minded fans, including women, elevate this site to whole new levels. I’d even go as far as to say Intermat should give these guys their walking papers and start a new forum encouraging multitudes of new fans and turn current lurkers into active participants. Last night was the best NCAA big dance for me. As a PSU fan, I am not disappointed at all because PSU still ran the roost while other teams and exciting wrestlers got the lime light. A cross section of talented American wrestlers who wrestled their hearts out in front of a national audience, their friends and family and in front of the president of the United States and even some members of Congress who made the journey to Philly. And how about the reaction of women wrestlers. I’d love to see some interviews of these ladies growing the sport. What are their thoughts? Were they excited? You bet they were / and for many reasons you blue boyz would never admit. What a great freakin night! I loved it so much I’m going to watch the entire replay via You Tube after firing up the grill and downing some cold ones. Cheers! 🍺

Trump is a narcissistic piece of trash. He made it about himself to look like a strong tough guy when in reality he had his chance to serve in the military and chickened out.

There were hundreds of thousands non wrestling fans seeing news casts  of where he was going and also mentioning the historic matches, my wife for one who said something to me. After an awkward late arrival, the president also stayed for the entirety to congratulate the last wrestler. Thousands of non fans tuned in just for dumb political reasons and got to watch a 4 year undefeated  5 time champion. Sorry he might have brought some attention; NOT!

Next step should be to invite the finals winners to the white house - great for the wrestlers and great for the sport!!

Why thank you sir!

I really wish this forum transitioned into something much better - one with greater participation that especially included women. There were a few in the past who knew their stuff but they have left and never returned. I wish there was an effort by Intermat to expand this forum but it’s seems they’re happy with it just the way it is.

It will likely be the Penn State team.

At least five times.

Maybe the Orange Peril will use the Tournament for his PR blasts inbetween getting more treatments to enhance the Orange color? Then he can claim to be a great Oklahoma State University fan - showing school colors?

I don’t care who it is - as long as the sport and the effort these kids put into it gets the ultimate stage like other sports has in the recent past.

The time it took this forum to transition from the end of the season to a political diatribe could be measured with an egg timer.

If I am not mistaken, the only times that ESPN showed the President was when he walked in, and when Hendrickson saluted him.  Your entire focus of this thread is on those two five-second clips.....out of the 2+ hours of action?!?!  Really??

Heck, you spent more time making this post than ESPN spent showing him.

What you say is true but not really surprising. It goes to show just how maddening that dude is for a lot of people
