Nebraska projections

Hopefully this happens because idk if I can do another year with Harley Andrews

125 - rfr Kael Lauridsen

133 - jr Jacob Van Dee

141 - sr Brock Hardy (I believe he has a better chance here than at 149)

149 - sr Blake Cushing/fr Nikade Zinkin/ Transfer (I'm hoping Zinkin because I think that he is the real deal but wouldn't be upset at Cushing finally getting his chance to be starting)

157 - jr Antrell Taylor

165 - so Christopher Minto

174 - rfr LJ Araujo

184 - sr Lenny Pinto

197 - sr Silas Allred

HWT - fr Cade Ziola/so Camden McDanel/jr Harley Andrews (Idk if I can see Camden moving up because he is a 97kg guy, but I wouldn't be opposed to it. I think Ziola is the better option if he can fill into the weight, he already has a massive frame)

I hope Nebraska can somehow convince Isaac Trumble to come back home, but if not I hope that this is the starting lineup for next year

I could see Ziola growing into heavyweight eventually but he would get ragdolled by college heavyweights with his current size. Ben Kueter would look like Brock Lesnar standing next to him.

Ziola is expected to redshirt and be the future heavyweight.

My guess for Mizzou:

125 Walker

133 Crapps (please no more Kade Moore)

141 Edmond

149 Gioffre (Ugh)

157 Conway (Double Ugh)

165 Cole

174 Steed

184 Sinclair

197 Hawks

Hwt Elam

What I'd like to see?

125 Walker

133 Mendoza

141 Edmond

149 Transfer

157 Rath

165 Bambinelli

174 Steed

184 Sinclair

197 Elam

Hwt Stillwell

  • The second lineup looks like a fun team to watch.
  • I hope Rocky is able to come back healthy to MIZ.
  • I'd like to see Easton Hilton win the 141 spot.
  • Do you think they might RS Walker and go w Mack Mauger?

I thought Mauger looked like the better guy this year in a few of the smaller tourneys.

Just my opinion as I have no insider info, but I could see the lineup going one of two ways next year. 1) They RS all of the incoming freshmen and save them for the following year (in which case I think they’d use Walkers RS). Or 2) they let Mendoza/Rath/Bambinelli/Stillwell out of the cage right away and hope for a strong national tournament before they lose Hawks and Elam.

They could of course all use a RS, and Smith usually does unless you’re KOT…but with some of the HEW we saw this past weekend (uhemm Iowa), I wonder if we’ll start to see more true freshmen passing on the RS. Somebody on another thread made a good point about how a lot of injuries are happening later in careers because of all of the scrambling and the effect it has on your knees.

Going to be an interesting 25-26 season in Ames.

125 - Meza/Castillo

133 - Grice/Meza/Diversent

141 - Evan Frost

149 - Jacob Frost/Echemendia/Paniro

157 - Paniro/Chittum

165 - Euton/Riggins

174 - Gaitan

184 - Bartelt

197 - Schon

285 - Yonger

Obviously only listed guys currently planned to be on the roster. Thinking a transfer or two (65 and 97).

Lineup has the most potential with Frosts at 133/141 but I don’t think that happens again.

I like your option 2!  This was the toughest year in a long time for Mizzou wrestling.   Couple of other thoughts/questions.

1.  Hawks doesn't seem to be improving over the years he's been in the program.  Is he at a weight class that is too high?   Should he/can he move to 174?  If Steed could maintain 165, Hawks at 174, Sinclair at 184 and Elam at 197 that would be 4 strong weight classes.

2.  Over the many years I've been a fan, I've gotten spoiled with the strong development Mizzou coaches have achieved with many of their wrestlers.   Good/great wrestlers come into the program and you see many of them improve each year to the point you have NCAA champions or All Americans by the time they are seniors.  Edmonds, Hawks, Gioffre and others don't seem to be developing and improving as many former Mizzou wrestlers have.  Any thought on this?

3.  Nitzel had some bright points, can he take the next step in 2025/26?

4.  Will Kade Moore take the next step in development?  Can he survive the onslaught of some of the incoming talent? He looked like he was really coming around in the Big 12 Tourn, but then did nothing at the NCAA Tourn.

Was Aziz hurt this year? He just vanished.

Maybe but 149 is far more likely than 125.

Go be a stud with your Bro and wreck the conference and then the NCAA tourney!

I don't have a brother, but damn, that seems like fun to me...💪

Hawks is what he is, Fringe AA to 0-2. That’s okay, not knocking him. When he’s healthy he can go with anyone with the exception of guys like Parker, Plott and Cstar. His knee injury seems to be serious. Not sure what it was exactly. We now know KOT was an ACL tear.

Honestly the entire lineup should be open for any and all. Just because someone is an incoming freshman, if they are the best at that weight, let them go.

We need a light weight coach. Maple is all we have for 125-165. Both Terrel and Dom go with the upper guys. Another coach for the bottom half would be great. Maple wouldn’t be spread so thin.
