Not for nothing, but those of us fans who have been around wrestling for more than a minute can appreciate these close matches and the excitement, and fighting off shots and such,

But tonight's championship--thus far---will do nothing to draw in new or casual fans who find the lack of scoring boring. My only hope that that ESPN keeps broadcasting the Championship.....but I fear the bottom line ($$$) may cast it to the winds....

Jordan Burroughs must have gotten feedback about not talking about himself as much.  He said Lovett was the first Nebraska champ since 2011 but didn’t even point out that it was himself

I'm not bashing individual wrestlers here not do i blame them for using the current system to their advantage but am I the only one not happy with the product we are currently seeing?  Is this the style of wrestling we want to be working towards?  Maybe I'm in the minority here but it just doesn't feel right.

Edge wrestling and judgment calls are the problem. The alternative is a push out rule and a closer move to freestyle. The downside is less close matches and upsets. People don’t want to lose the chess match either.

Noticed that. Was surprised

Folkstule wrestling is circling the drain.   It's time to pull the plug and switch to freestyle.  I'd even prefer Sumo to this nonsense.

Add me to the group. I’m really disappointed with some of the athletes wrestling tonight and representing the sport. Compare the Keck/McEnelly 4-1 to the 125/133/149 matches. The former were two gladiators that left it all on the mat and the latter were dudes taking advantage of sumo style wrestling rules.

I just realized I am drinking Buchanan's 18 year old Scotch. Gonna have to switch prior to the 197 match.

That's what I like to hear!

I've never had good expensive scotch.

You including Starocci in this?

Actually no.

Guy has earned my respect, titles aside.

I was just a bitter old man from him stalling his ass off against ThugMassa G a few years back.

Agreed. Particularly it being lightweights...even the announcers are discussing how more action/stall calls/wrestling not shoving is needed. Felt like Byrd was just running Ayala out of bounds but maybe I'm out of touch

Felt the exact same way. The “head down, half-ass double under hook, drive straight forward until opponent physically can’t circle in anymore” technique really needs to be looked at this offseason. That’s stalling too in my opinion.

Agree.  Don't hate the player.  Hate the game.
