    Got a source for Greco being more popular across the world? I am not seeing anything that would suggest so. In the US, it’s not popular at all.

    Who would even be considered the greatest Greco wrestler in US history? Would it be Rulon? He got 4th at Nebraska in 93 and that was it, according to Wikipedia.

    You’ve gotta remember, LJB’s kids are Greco guys, and he takes a ton of pride in that. Hell, I’ve seen him compare himself to Philip II of Macedon…. Yes, really. What he doesn’t realize is that his entire persona on this site is a good example of the difference between Greco and Free. Could you imagine if Dake or Lee’s parents were on here acting like that? They never would because it would be a bad look, but for Greco, no one cares. Some people can’t handle the truth.

    Kind of supports my point, doesn’t it? The sport isn’t popular, so the best wrestlers don’t pursue it. I don’t see any realistic way for its popularity to grow unless it develops a stronger connection to NCAA wrestling and I don’t see that happening. Troy Nickerson may love Greco, but the majority of the wrestling community doesn’t care.

    I can appreciate the skill involved, but Greco takes an experienced eye to fully enjoy. In the U.S., there’s also very little crossover between the top NCAA wrestlers and the Greco national team. Most of the athletes on the team are people that 95% of the wrestling community has never even heard of. It’s never going to be popular among the fans so people don’t care.
