FIgures Cornell would recruit him, Cornell always recruits thugs! I remember watching a Cornell thug physically assault Frank Molina at the NCAA tournament one time. He rode him for 7 minutes and was doing that "stop punching yourself" thing to Frank. Disgusting.

Shirt type On scholarship? Can play? Can practice? Meaning
Redshirt Yes No Yes Athlete sits from competition for a year, then gets another year to complete four seasons.
Grayshirt No No No Athlete waits an extra semester to become a full-time student and part of the team.
Blueshirt Yes No Yes Athlete is not formally recruited, but is put on scholarship at start of freshman practice.
Greenshirt Yes Yes Yes Athlete enrolls in school a semester early.

what's the reasoning for the possible grey shirt ?

I don't see the Orange Shirt on this grid.  Meaning: "Athlete picks up roadside trash and either studies law to make his legal case to the jury or studies exit routes from the Big House in planning an escape".  Perhaps he will transfer from Cornell to the Poison Ivy League and the School of Hard Knox.

Years ago when the Keller twins were arrested, we used the term stripe-shirting! Times and fashions have changed.

This has nothing to do with anything, but I am curious about how the districts are set up in NJ. Why is St. John Vianney from way up past Marlborough Township wrestling in a district tournament 75 miles away outside of Camden?

It changed recently, maybe between 5-10 years ago.  It used to be more geographically based and not really sure why they switched it up.  It honestly may have had to do with splitting the Private schools up more

Correct in part. There is a very high percentage of the NPs (non-publics) in the NE. Also, the Shore Conference regions had a very high number of schools compared to the rest of the state. (Population growth in South Jersey trailed that of North for a while then picked up). There were a lot of complaints. So the complainants were given what I think was a good solution (mathematically only- not aesthetically or rivalry-wise). Apparently it worked better to cut the state largely into east west strips. Starting from the south going north (Cape May) they apportioned out publics. Then from the north going south the same with the NPs. And they try to make each district/region similar in terms of power.

Honestly, this is pretty bad ass of Anthony Knox and his dad. They showed those punks what is up. Street cred for life and he still gets to compete at the state tourney. I bet that minor deserved getting his head pounded in. Sucker! Bet these cops are just jealous they never got to beat somebody like that and they're punishing him out of spite. Free Knox, he's the man.

I wrestled in New Jersey back in the 80s and I went to Cornell, so I suppose that I am entitled to an opinion on this topic (keeping in mind that opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one). I can't recall seeing anything close to a brawl during my high school wrestling years (and we went to some pretty tough high schools) but I have seem near-brawls between parents in my sons' youth and high school soccer games. Maybe people are a little less civilized now than back then? Certainly parents have gotten worse.

If Knox is found guilty of assualt, he probably won't serve any time because (presumably) he has no priors. I do think that Cornell would then revoke his admission, and that would probably be the right call. However, I think that he should be allowed to wreste in the state tournament. The old 'innocent until proven guilty' thing.

Better to strip him of his title after the fact (which does not erase anyone's memory, but does crown another champion) then deny him the opportunity to win on the mat.

So 20 for his freshman campaign and turning 21 at the end of the school year, assuming everything continues as planned.

I still remember being at NCAA Tournament years ago and the great Sandy on mic saying congratulations to " TRU Freshman of Year" award ..I was around a team that just chuckled at the Tru frosh...There were 2 guys competing that were same age but they were Seniors in College.

Remember Matt Brown at PSU? I think he was 25 when he won a title. He had some religious mission that allowed him to pump iron for a couple years before he started college 😄

My father brought me to my very first HS wrestling match 1974 When was 14. 4 year undefeated UE coming to Cortland to face the team that tied them in a dual 2 years ago. UE beats Cortland and as the gym bleachers clear the UE HWT goes up to tear a painted pep rally poster off the wall. A tiny senior cheerleader  gets in his path going up the bleachers but couldn't stop him as he just reached thru her and grabbed the poster. She yells NO NO; Immediately there was a rush to bleachers all patrons coming back in from the halls. Fists were flying and people were getting layed out. The Cortland coach had boxing experience and was flooring spectators with right hooks in front of my eyes, the whole scence documented in the paper the next day with headlines: UE wins the match Cortland wins the brawl!   Needless to say I was hooked for life told my dad on the way home I was going to be a wrestler! not one suspension or disciplinary action ever resulted!

No video back in the day !!1

Plamen Paskalev won a DII title at Central Missouri in 2006, he was 31 years old.

if he's found guilty of assault, it could have dramatic impact on his career prospects outside of wrestling.  firms that run background checks and turn up "assault and battery" don't tend to look upon it very kindly.  It's also why I think the courts should apply grace and common sense to this one (although that's not what courts are known for)

I think they are applying common sense.  Charging an adult who ran into the stands to assault a minor because he was mouthing off.  You can't do that.  I wouldn't be shocked if a civil suit is filed as well.

The interesting thing here, is where is the school in all of this? You would think that the school would have suspended him for behavior at a school event, especially when you are charged with assault.

They originally stated that they accepted the suspension.  Haven’t seen if they’ve commented since the lawsuit
