I had not seen these before, but apparently he's been in the portal since Octorber: Diego Sotelo from Harvard could be a great pickup for someone.  I'm gonna throw out Illinois because he's from there and it's an excellent school.  Any other thoughts?

That would be awesome if he came back to his home state, I think Illinois will do him great with a practice partner in Byrd and Poeta over him.

What does this say about Rocco then? he left tOSU b.c of similar distrust with coaching staff / or adversity

Rocco purposely threw himself in the lion’s den, knowing he’ll come out a better man because of it.

Rocco left because of poor coaching and knowing his potential won’t be reached.  Ryder left because he feared he wouldn’t make the starting lineup.

those two things are not equal. Not even remotely close.

No one here knows the full story.  You @VakAttack, etc do not have the actual details.  Another "rumor" out there was Tom told Rocco they'd have a talk when he got back from Aruba and that was the final straw.  @MPhillips or  @RandolphTJones who are dialed in on the tOSU might laugh at that for being absurd.

I get that it's a forum and we're having fun but people are on here and other sites posting their theories as fact.  I was told Rocco reached out to PSU.  Is that true?  Don't know and don't care enough to dig further than that

He probably did reach out to PSU first. But some booster probably also offered him something before he was in the portal.

But yes, we don’t really know anything for sure.

Just curious?! W/ Ryder transferring over to OK state from Penn St.; I wonder if his friend and former high school teammate (PJ Duke) reconsiders his Penn St commitment as well? That would be very interesting...

Should we all chip in and get MP tics for tonight?

I think you should let MP tag along for your golf outings with John Smith

My spelling agrees with 50% of posters on this hear board.  Plus I think the new gentleman's agreement is you don't have to spell it correctly until they are national champs.  😉

LOL! I appreciate what you did there!

Skeptical of this being true. I don’t believe incentives are allowed

A quick Google search found this recommendation from a law firm:

Quote

Another highly important item that the student-athlete should be paying attention to is whether the contract is pay for play. While the NCAA does not regulate much around NIL, one rule it does enforce is no pay for play contracts. At the surface, this may seem obvious, but businesses have gotten crafty in how they structure their contracts to reflect pay for play contracts. For example, a business may offer the student-athlete an incentives based contract that states “for every ten passes the student-athlete completes, they will receive another endorsement opportunity, or X amount of dollars.” This is a pay for play contract and can jeopardize the student-athlete’s NCAA eligibility.

Thought so. No disrespect to Dean but it seems implausible that they would risk something like that over a solid but not spectacular guy.

Looks like Bob finally took my recommendations about incentives but a base pay of 200k is way, way too high. Gotta lower that to just below 70k.

And don't talk to me about how incentives aren't legal. None of that matters in the current landscape
